I wonder how that would go for basketball. In baseball guys might do it because they're out of high school and go 17th round but then go to college for 2 years and suddenly wind up a 3rd round pick.

For basketball, would it just be a 1 year window? You don't sign in 2024, you reenter in 2025? And whoever held the pick of the unsigned player gets a pick in that same spot the next year too?

Silver at it again with his OS account Do it, an alternate between US cities and World cities: Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid etc. If the game isn't competitive then then scrap it and just announce the selections; basically half season All-NBA selections.

      The End.

Or just let them play and stop expecting some 'competitive' match up. The players have too much to lose to go full tilt in a glorified exhibition game.

I'm not sure why people can't or won't accept that fact?

My mind agrees that the players shouldn't go all out, that people bitch way too much about this. The heart says, **** them, play hard.

I don't need any convincing, but it seems like Adam Silver does, with his passive-aggressiveness while handing out the All-Star game MVP trophy this year. He ain't having it, he knows it is a bad look and it is.

I never thought in my life that the NFL would kill the old Pro-Bowl, but they did, so Silver killing the All-Star doesn't seen so far-fetched after that.

World tour is kinda lame. I'd rather they do the All star game at Street courts imagine the game at Rucker park or Venice beach. Would probably lose a lot of money though since you can't pack an arena and would be a nightmare for security.

They really need to set a precedence asap on a punishment.

I've always been thinking this too. How easy is it to manipulate prop bets? It's one thing better on or against your team to win, you can't control that. But betting on the over for 3 point attempts just requires you chucking up threes, betting on fouls just requires you hacking a lot.

If he bet on himself or games in any way, that should be an automatic ban from the league. Probably easier to make an example out of someone who can barely even crack the bench of a tanking team.

Funnier thing, based on what games he might have bet on and what his stats were, he very well could've bet the UNDER on himself. So a guy trying to make an NBA roster is sucking even more on purpose to win prop bets on himself?

I still feel like we are only hearing about a small % of these actual cases. A lot of it is dealt with in-house, or people are just more slick about it.

I felt like it was only a matter of time before someone here got caught up.

Wouldn’t surprise me to Silver play Tough Cop and give him a lifetime ban but we’ll see.

No doubt there's lots you'll never know about.

In this case, only way he seemed to have gotten caught is because he's a nobody. So when someone's placing some big bets on a nobody AND it happens to hit too, and probably happened multiple times, that raises red flags.

It's easier to manipulate if you're a nobody because it could be some small number like 0.5 3PA a game or 4.5 points a game. But easier to get caught for that reason too.

But on the flipside, you could be some guy averaging 15 points a game and 30 mins and just having a friend bet on you on a night you think or know you're not gonna be playing much, taking the under on it. I'm sure there's lots of bets on you so that friend one will just be another bet. If it happens too much it'll raise flags too though. If there's one thing these betting companies hate it's people winning big regularly.

I know someone who got banned literally just for winning. Maybe the betting company thought they're a player or friend, but they said they won a few big bets/parlays and then got banned. Probably had flags raised about them too, got investigated without realizing it, and when they couldn't prove they have ties to any actual game, just banned them and that's it.

I think visual aids in the future will help this podcast out.
