But if the NBA already knew all this then they won't suddenly act because it's out in the open now.

And apparently one of the Raptors owners (Tannenbaum) filed a complaint directly to the NBA back when it was all happening but the league didn't do anything about it.
Funneling money to a player off the books is far more egregious than the shenanigans they pulled on the Spurs and Raptors.

Obviously, they were tampering and likely helping 'push' the 'misdiagnosis' story to sway sympathy (and get him to LA faster without losing crazy draft capital).

The NBA needs to act strongly, otherwise this tells all the big market teams that they can do the same.

That's the thing I wonder.....how often has stuff like this happened?

I find it hard to believe that with multi billion dollar owners that we haven't already seen things like that before in sports, it's just that nobody got caught.

They're multi billionaires for a reason, they know how to game the system and find loopholes and hide any wrongdoings.

I don't like this response coming from a commissioner. Comes off as "We got our bag secured from the new TV deal. So if you can't afford it, watch the highlights"

But.....doesn't the league remove videos from fans who do highlights?

More sports leagues should do condensed versions of games available online. Like a 20 minute cut of the entire game (I know house of highlights does it for the NBA on YouTube, but that doesn't count as an official NBA cut?)

I think he just means from official platforms. With NBC getting some games, that is a free option for those with Antennas.

But, making that statement is just a bad look even if that wasn't his intention. First, one of the main talking points were low ratings/viewers last year. That statement shows it doesn't matter now since they got the new deal. Second, they say they want to grow/teach the game. You can't grow the game off of highlights. Third, for the new streaming partners and broadcasts, saying the NBA is a 'Highlight sport" wouldn't push viewers to those avenues. Fourth, highlights and boxscores doesn't always showcase the non-superstar players. Watching full games help showcase the role players and star players

I'm breaking down and will get the Peacock Premium plus NBC Philly package just so I can watch the Sixers games this year. If I wait until Peacock premium goes on sale for $20 a year, I will only be paying $25 a month for the games. I'm just hoping there's an ability to watch games at a later time on the app. But, I would be interested in condensed games
