He was just thinking out loud. He knows such a proposal is DOA.
Teams better chill out with tanking cause I really don't want to have a lottery tournamentComment

Getting fined for defending himself...
Especially being on a rookie deal, I'm sure a vet on the team is paying that fine for Koloko.Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
Maybe Silver is thinking about that Wheel idea.
Basically you choose a random order for all teams and then that's the fixed order for the 1st pick going forward forever and ever. So a team would have the 1st pick once every 30 years. Drawbacks are obvious, what if this was the Warriors year to get the 1st pickBut since a lot of people, including Adam, keep bitching about tanking (I don't see it as a big deal) then perhaps that would "solve" the problem once and for all.

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
I don't hate that idea. I'd rather they just completely randomize the entire draft order every year.
To me tanking is just a side effect of player movement and teams having less and less direct control over things. Eliminating that just ties their hands even more.Last edited by dubcity; 10-24-2022, 12:22 AM.Comment

Though it would be funny seeing the South Bay Lakers and the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the NBA.Comment

I think the hope is that Silver can just use threats or bluff his way into getting teams to not blatantly tank and then not change anythingComment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
NBA is such a star driven league that a single player can turn around a franchise's fortunes. Other leagues may say that, but its only really true here. Supposedly that French dude is a generational talent so whoever gets him could instantly turn around their franchise.

Tanking won’t change until the lottery is changed..threats or not.
I say just make the odds equal for the 14 non-playoff teams.Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
Bad teams will always factor in draft position in making decisions the closer they get to the end of the season. That won't change. What Silver and the league office probably want is for teams just not to be blatant about it. Threats could work for that.Comment

Instead of dealing a 1st pick in 5 years, you know it's a 9th ovr pick already. Trade values will change so much.
But then how do you guarantee this rule won't change once in 30 years? Or no new team will be added in those 30 years?Last edited by Majingir; 10-24-2022, 07:36 PM.Comment
