Honestly it probably is. They got a title out of him, it feels pretty unrealistic to expect him to be their guy for the next 5+ years at this point though.

Lakers missed their chance to trade AD earlier in the year when he was playing so well. It would be hard to judge his value with his injury history.

I caught hell for feeling this way.

The whole Championship or Bust is nonsense to me. Especially being a fan of a perennial loser.

Everyone wants something to cheer for even if it doesn’t result in a parade at the end.

His value wasn’t any higher. It’s unfortunate to say, but we all knew this was coming sooner or later this year. Lakers just have to be fortunate it happened earlier in the year than later, he actually has a chance to get back if they can stay afloat (not likely I know)

Ehh I don’t quite agree with that. Injury was expected sure but this is the best he’s looked since the bubble. Obviously he’s on and off the court all year every year, but this would have been 3 straight years of him not looking like an All-NBA guy after looking like an MVP level guy from that year. When playing well the Lakers aren’t considering trading him anyways, but if they were to hypothetically shop him I feel like him showcasing he’s still elite compared to what he looked like the past two seasons would have been a much more enticing trade chip.

Wouldn’t make sense to trade him when healthy anyways honestly. Gambling on him staying healthy isn’t much different than gambling on another player being a good fit. Roster still has some flaws, the player they got back in the trade would have to be able to mask some of those like AD can. Not that it was ever considered from the Nets but the whole AD and Russ for KD and Kyrie that whoever floated this off-season would have been the only package that would make sense IMO.

Forget 5+ years, you really can’t even rely on him to get thru a season without missing any time at this point.

Internet “rumors” circulating that the Lakers are basically scared to make a trade because the last trade didn’t work out and they don’t want to compound mistakes…

Lakers front office is a weird bunch man.. I don’t get it. They’re playing the stand pat game which wastes a year of Bron, AD if he makes it back, all to have 30 million in cap space this summer that they won’t be able to spend on a star anyways because they’re going to have like 11 open roster spots lol.

I realize they more than likely don’t have a trade on the table to put them into contention, but you also never know come playoff time if you can get there. Plus it’s not like they can tank, Pelicans have the choice to pick swap with them this year. There is zero reason for them to play this “we don’t have a good team right now, but we want to keep it that way” game.

Maybe Magic wasn’t the crazy one after all lol.

To keep it a buck..the Lakers should be sellers.

Justin Termine brought up an interesting point on NBA radio today. He was talking about how great Embiid has been over the past few years now. This year up to a career high in points and FG%.. but then obliviously you have Jokic doing what he’s been doing in that span too. No idea how long the both of them will keep playing this great, and stay healthy all that… but the question he posed was could Embiid go down as the best player to never make an NBA first team if this trend continues? He’s playing at an all-time level, but has been edged out by Joker 3 times now, and AD twice. He made the point that Embiid might retire with more 40 and 10 games than Shaq but won’t have a 1st team finish when you have guys like Noah and Deandre Jordan with first team seasons.

I was literally thinking about that the other day!!! It's kind of unfair both can't be recognized.

I think last year Embiid was eligible as a F for all nba teams.
