If they add Kyrie + a starting caliber 4 - either small ball or more traditional, small ball preferred I would think - I like this trade a lot more.

I mean they could just start Wood and try to upgrade elsewhere.

Health questions aside, I thought Porzingas was the perfect type of player to pair with Luka but they didn't mesh. Does anyone recall why? Was it personal or what?

idk what the issues were, but I know he and Brunson are both having all-star caliber years, Dinwiddie put up like 40 and got the W in the game Luka got hurt a couple minutes into the game against Phoenix, Wood and THJ can both get you 20 on any give night, and all anybody keeps talking about is how bad that cast is.

They probably did need another true star with a championship in mind, I get that, but people have been treating this like some Bron and Boobie Gibson, Kobe and Smush Parker type of rosters when maybe a bit LESS standing and watching Luka could go a long ways with what they have had the past couple of years.

Last years group was winning playoff games without Luka even playing. It feels weird to me they are willing to extend Kyrie here but wouldn't pay to keep Brunson. Imagine them having Brunson on the team right now, still made the Christian Wood trade, and used this same Kyrie trade for something like the Turner + Hield package, or a trade for OG, or something. They would be so deep right now.

No way the Mavs made this trade without at least running it by (not necessarily giving him a veto) Luka, right?

I can't believe that LeBron re-signed with the Lakers for this "never ever trading those two 1st round picks" ****. What a ****ing waste. WHO GIVES A **** ABOUT THE LAKERS IN 5 YEARS OR WHATEVER? Whatever happens then happens then.

KD hitched his wagon to Kyrie and LeBron to Westbrook. Unbelievable.

Yall remember the old question of which would you prefer -- winning a championship followed by years of suck or consistent success? Jeanie Buss chooses consistent relevance. Aren't the Lakers her only major revenue stream? As long as they have LeBron they will sell tickets and make money, but they may be hesitant to make moves that could negatively affect their bottom line after LeBron.

That said I don't fault them for not viewing any potential Kyrie trade as a must. I wouldn't want to give him a 4 year deal either.

Of course Penny pincher Jeanie chose that, it is LeBron who I'm disappointed by.

I would hope that if LeBron tried to play LeGM again they politely told him to go play basketball and close the door behind him.

LeBron pushing for acquiring Russ is largely why they are in the situation they are in.

Christian Wood is a sieve on defense and would be better suited remaining an energizer off the bench (where he and THJ can share touches). They would be a layup drill on defense with him, Kyrie, and Luka starting together, IMO.

But playing LeGM is what he does, he didn't need to re-sign with the Lakers; he could had made "going all in" a precondition of re-signing.

Yeah, it never was clear to me that it was. But if it was, and Pelinka/Penny pincher reneged, you know LeBron would get super snippy in the press making it clear he was unhappy/not his fault. So either Pelinka is waiting to strike for something (not sure what) or the picks were offered and the Nets said no, or maybe LeBron lost the Eye of the Tiger and doesn't want it no more.

At least when he was being LeGm I knew he cared.

I'm willing to trade Wiseman straight up for either Poltl or Olynyk; plus I'll take Thybulle for Moody.

                            Thank you very much.

I’d be inclined to take that over Dinwiddie and some 2nd rounders.

I think Tsai didn’t want to appease Kyrie and send him to his first choice. Just my take on it.
