Re: Eastern Conference 1st Round Games Discussion Thread

My fault OJ, I didn’t mean you in particular, just in general. But I’ve definitely seen a ton of folks on Twitter praising him for his response and giving him kid glove treatment compared to what other elite NBA players would’ve gotten.

(I’m aware this isn’t a big deal and by tonight, we’ll have all moved on from that. In case someone thinks I’m making it a big deal lol)

Was a response to Giannis and the full interview is worse. What do you guys think people’s problem with the clip is? Further in the interview he says he’s not frustrated, after getting punked by the 8 seed. Then he says he had to let Jrue guard Jimmy out of respect to the coach but he wishes he could’ve guarded him more. He’s talking like a passenger.

Re: Eastern Conference 1st Round Games Discussion Thread

I don't think they should fire coach Bud, unless someone like Kenny Atkinson is available to replace him, but that doesn't guarantee the Bucks win another title.

Losing in the first round as a #1 seed is embarrassing and disappointing, no question.

The same issues that hurt them last year against the Heat did them in, again. They need to find another long, athletic 3 & D - type while relying a lot less on older guys like Ingles and Crowder.

Although, I didn't understand why they acquired Jae to not significantly use him for the matchup he's most suited for.

I wouldn't jump off the ledge too soon with Milwaukee, people. Dallas and San Antonio were "embarrassed" and upset by lower seeds multiple times during their runs, yet eventually, both won a title.

Plus, Milwaukee has been to the mountaintop. These last two years just show how hard it is to repeat that success especially when facing a bad matchup (repeated opponent).

Gotta give the devil his due and say that Jimmy Butler was incredible. I'm not sure he can do this sort of thing for a conceivable 3 more series.

New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and/or Atlanta all have multiple wing defenders they can throw at him.

Re: Eastern Conference 1st Round Games Discussion Thread

Well, when Giannis was covering Jimmy in the past playoffs, I think I read somewhere that

he held Jimmy to 19 % shooting, so, maybe that is what Giannis was referencing.

Giannis also felt they could have guarded Jimmy differently, double teams, and let the other

            Heat players beat you.

Bud has been a coach that doesn't change things up on the fly, he just sticks to what has

been successful for the team. That may fly during the course of a season, but in a smaller

sample sizes during a playoff series, I feel you need to counter punch quickly if

            something isn't working.

Giannis learned a lot from Kobe and Kobe was his mentor earlier in his career:

Failure doesn't exists. Story continues. Its only a failure if you don't learn anything and just

            stop trying.' - Kobe Bryant.

Kobe and Giannis have/had their opinions and what makes them tick, and we have our

opinion on what makes others and us tick.

It's definitely been framed in a weird way. Maybe it's because he's already won a title, or because he's just generally a likable guy. People saying they liked the passion he showed. Very strange. To me it made him look unnecessarily insecure.

They don’t need to go full fledge rebuild.

But the way they lost, who they lost to and to win only 1 game against an 8 seed while having the best record/arguably team in the league(we’ve been fed all year about how they’ve had too 3 guys at 4 of their 5 starting spots)…ain’t no way they can just make minor tweaks or even run it back.

Coaching change should definitely be under “consideration”.

Hell, this Heat wasn’t even that good all year and we’re one of the worst shooting teams in the league if I’m not mistaken. They get into the playoffs, Jimmy and nem turn into the South Beach Warriors lol. Got hot at the right time.

I feel like Kenny Atkinson has such a reputation as a developmental coach it wouldn’t make any sense for them to go that way. Just go get Nurse.

                    You wildin', man.

No way do they have the patience/time nor cap space/draft assets to completely rework that roster. They need to make tweaks and hope they can have everyone at 100% (or near it) come playoff time.

All 3 of their early exits against Miami came off of them being banged up at an inopportune time.

Nurse could likely bring new concepts or a change in philosophy to the table. I don't know why I named Atkinson before him, especially when I'd much rather have him on the Spurs bench. [emoji38]

I still think we are all just being prisoners of the moment, but I get that people think change means "thing will get better/improve." That isn't always the case and in particular with sports.

There’s something about Nurse where I’m not all that impressed with him either.

It wouldn’t be the worst thing to run it back with Bud, but they would definitely have to make some significant, philosophical changes.

Unrelated to this game. But I’ve only watched Boston a handful of times this year. Largely because I watched so much of them last year, and after seeing how Brogdon looked I felt like I knew what to expect and had a decent read on them.

With that said, in the sample size I’ve watched I feel like Robert Williams impact on them defensively has been substantially less compared to last year. I know he missed most of the season but when available is that an accurate take or just a coincidence of the specific games I caught?
