Re: Western Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread
Swear the blowout to game ratio is already way higher in the 2nd round than the 1st. Usually we get past that somewhat in the 2nd round. It's like, even if these series go 7 games it's not much fun to watch if it's like this.Comment

That's how the 2016 NBA finals were. Just back and forth blowouts. Game 7 is the only thing that basketball entertainment.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Props to Lonnie Walker though. Lost his spot in the rotation completely but is always ready when he’s called.
Still blows my mind that Ham has a shooter like Beasley that he can’t figure out how to incorporate into his game plan. Maybe the Hield/Turner trade wouldn’t have been a good move after all. Can’t imagine having Hield would be much different.Comment

But I’ve also not seen Ham run a single play for him to get him a shot either. Even when he’s been on the floor it feels like most looks he gets are off some iso or him calling his own number. I don’t think I’ve seen him come off a screen to get open from a designed play yet.
Whole thing is just weird because even if you don’t want him to get a shot he’s the type of shooter than running him off screens as a “decoy” could easily get you Bron or AD isolated on one side of the floor without help too.Comment

Re: Western Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread
OJ, Beasley had an extremely long leash and Ham most definitely had games where he was running plays for him. Beasley just happens to be the latest Laker to get the 3 pointer yips.
On another note, I think my new biggest pet peeve is fans crying about FT discrepancy when they clearly only looked at the box score instead of watching games. Even the ones who use next gen stats to say the Warriors drive the ball a lot. What the box score doesn’t show is how scared they get once they see AD and how he completely alters the game [emoji23]

Re: Western Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread
Warriors were dead last in FT attempts in the season anyways. It’s not really that surprising given how timid Wiggins can look at times it basically makes Steph their best at drawing fouls by default. They’re also going to get less of them from J Green standing in the corner, and less than the normal team would considering Looney never looks to score when he gets an offensive board.
Only thing I would be annoyed about as a GS fan in terms of free throws would be how many Dennis gets when it’s obvious he spends a lot of his time trying to draw fouls. He used a lot of those non-basketball tactics and he’s gotten the whistle a few times in this series. Not really this last game but in game 1 he got a couple of those calls.Comment

Western Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread
Because see first line of my second post about this, I’ve never seen Ham run a play for him or even incorporate him into off-ball action to serve as a decoy or anything.
Cima is right, he had a VERY long leash. Everyone on that team does. He was running around jacking up contested looks and shots of the dribble like JR Smith. But I 100% disagree with him on him actually having plays called for him to get him open. Nearly every clean look he gets is because they are in transition, off broken plays, or because Bron/Reaves/DLo kicked to him off one of their ISOs.
Players respond well to Ham, but this lack of offensive identity has been an issue all year. He might be even less creative than Frank was on that end. It’s not always a bad thing, players have confidence, are allowed to play through mistakes, and they have the pieces when healthy to get by like that.. but a huge chunk of his offense early in the year was Lonnie Walker isos, a huge chunk of it now is Austin Reaves isos, probably the only reason Lonnie lost his role is how much better of a decision maker Reaves is with his passing. Almost all the looks Rui gets are off his own isos or a kick-out from someone else’s iso.
Rarely do they run something to get players easy looks. It was easier to give Ham the benefit of the doubt when it was Walker, Troy Brown, and Russ.. they couldn’t shoot anyways so why bother. But now.. Reaves, DLo, Beasley, Rui.. there isn’t really an excuse for them to not have sets designed to get some easy/open looks. And they rarely do.Comment

KD looks locked in. Especially with that double crossover. It's been a minute since I've seen it [emoji23]Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories
