    Speaking of NBA Live

Has anyone playing NBA Live had any ingame injuries?? This is something EA usually neglects in its basketball games. I haven't seen any but I have only played a few games.

You can only get an in game injury if someone does a hard foul on you...... This has been my beef with EA for years... LAME!!

I read in an interview with Tim Tsirchner ( the former webmaster of nba-live.com, now EA producer), I believe, that there were no in-game injuries....only in simulated games.

Kind of like the pancake stat issue with madden, you'd think after all these years EA would fix injuries in NBA Live.

Operation Sports: Are there random injuries on your team during franchise even when you are not simulating? Did you increase the frequency of injuries?

Tim Tschirner: If you simulate games in Franchise Mode there will be a variety of injuries, mostly based on a player's proneness to injuries. Players can get injured during gameplay only after hard fouls. We are aware that a lot of our users would like to see a bigger variety and frequency of in-game injuries and we will definitely address that going forward. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time to properly include this in NBA Live 2003.

Wasn't enough time!!!!! Now that is aggrivating. They've had how many years now to implement some semblance of a realistic injury model??? Game is still fun to play, but that kind of stuff is aggrivating.

ID had a great injury model in its 1st year of existence. 2k series had a better injury model from the day it came out also.

              Unreal.

I love how ID handles injuries, on 2002 Webber was hurt but could play part of a game so I had to pick my spots to put him in..... very cool ... EA has had what ten years to fix it ?

Brian that is exactly my point. EA has had 10 years or so, and they still havent gotten it right, when ID had the best injury system I have seen, and they did it in their 1st release.

Well 2k3's injuries aren't that much better. I did see a guy get hurt, but the problem is every injury turns out to be serious and half of the super stars are out for a month.

The season I'm in now has about 8 all stars on the injury report and I'm only 4 games into the season. I'm happy they have injuries and all but they could've made it a little more realistic.

                    The ID injuries sound great.

I'd rather have too many injuries than none at all. Injuries and playing without your star for periods of time make up a huge part of the strategy in sports games today. Tim should have said, "There are no new injuries this year. We still use the same injury engine as in Live 95". So in 9 years, they still haven't added it--that's pathetic.

                          Re: Speaking of NBA Live

The thing EA doesn't seem to get is that most injuries occur in practices or are a result of wear-and-tear and the surgeries performed to repair them... Look at all the players who are currently not playing - how many of their injuries were from "hard fouls"?

In-game injuries should occur randomly with any dunks, rebounds, collisions etc., and not just hard fouls. (ex. Antonio McDyess) Also, a flagrant foul should not necessarily result in an injury, and vice versa.

If nothing else, EA should do injury checks between games and report, for example: "Tyson Chandler suffered a concussion in practice and is out for 2-3 games."

How much time could that take? They seem to have plenty of time to do things like adding Fabolous and Busta Rhymes to the game, but can't fix something that hasn't worked for years, and which has been at the top of the wish list for just as long.

Having more frequent injuries would certainly add a lot to the realism and challenge of playing a season/franchise.

                          Get your priorities straight EA!

I to, have been wishin and wishin for injuries. but they dont seem to care about us.
I always hated the fact that only flagrant fouls resulted in a 50/50 chance of an injury. And a flagrant foul only occours 1 out of 20 to 30 games. ( Not talkin bout 2003)
And it stupid to see players around the league injured but the team u play with are healthier than brussel sprouts.
10 years is enough time to get it right and hoopscitylive made a good point about having busta and fabulous in the game(who plays with em?), than working on something important like injuries in a game.
Madden got the injuries perfect this year and i was hoping Live would to.

No injuries here, they really should make the injury system as great as Madden's.
