I look around the league and I see so many of the top teams have a marquee player with a great secondary player...Lebron has AD, Giannis has Lillard, Tatum has Brown, Ant Man has Towns, Joker has Murray, Embid has Maxey, Fox has Sabonis, Butler has Bam, Leonard has George, Luka has Kyrie etc. etc.

Who does Curry have?

With all the talk about getting rid of Kerr and other teams with multiple Top 75 guys on the roster needing "more help" does anyone not think the Dubs need a second All-Star level player. The media certainly doesn't talk about it.

In reality though that team is built better than all the teams with a secondary star. It doesn't feel that way now because Klay has regressed, Wiggins hasn't been the player he was in the playoffs since that ring, and Draymond is away from the team..

But from top to bottom I feel like you'll almost always have a better built team doing it the way Golden State, Denver have done it. Similar to the Spurs run, the Bulls run.. not that I blame the other teams gunning for stars because the reality is without time to build internally you have to swing for a star to have a shot against those other teams. Most teams with multiple stars have big flaws in other areas, or overlap, or the stars themselves struggle as usage drops..

Beautiful thing about Golden State is this whole time Draymond has been arguably the "most important" guy and his sole job is to basically make **** easier for their best player. Same with Klay, if he's not playing well the spacing is off, if teams aren't as worried about being burned by him they aren't as scared to help. It's just perfectly balanced.

I compare it a bit to Jordan's Bulls. beautiful thing about Pippen as a number 2 was he didn't take shots from Jordan. MJ was going to get 23 shots a game whether Pippen was on the floor or some league average role player was on the floor. And not that Pippen wasn't great but it made him a much better pairing in theory than Jordan playing with Hakeem or other top 5 guy, who also would have expected 20+ shots, would have clogged Jordan's driving lanes, etc. Adding Rodman being similar, as he was nowhere near as skilled or well rounded as most other stars, or even Kukoc, but when you add the best rebounder of all time to THAT team it means more because the player he's giving more possessions to is also the greatest scorer of all time.

Issue now is all those guys are aging and they have regressed as a team. I've never personally felt like Curry was the type to carry a subpar team all that far, but more so maximize a really good team and right now they aren't a really good team. Plus Curry is 35. Maybe it makes sense to try for a big name rather than hope that everything starts clicking like it did 2 years ago.

Agreeing with what has already been said but I'll also add that this is the trap that a lot of teams fall into.

They think like that and conclude "I need to go out and get a secondary star" when in reality most of the time when you look at the top teams their secondary star was developed and organically grew into that role. The teams that went out and acquired a secondary star, while good they tend to not be as good as the teams that developed their own talent.
