Will EA ever make a basketball simuation again ?

I have been waiting for years for a decent basketball simulation from EA, but they seem to want to cater to the run and gun crowd. This is also true of NHL 2003 and FIFA 2002 which probably means that they are not really interested in realism except in football. I guess it all depend on what you like but if they decide to include an unrealistic freestyle control, there should at least be an option to turn it off especially for online play.

they really never have unless your talking about the pc version that users spent hours customizing an then that was kind of real. there is too much money for them in the flash and dash market, if you want a sim learn to love nba k23 at least if something is wrong they will try and fix it. hell they are already working on 2k4

Don't you guys think it's better that 2k3 and Live play so differently? If they played the same we wouldn't get a change of pace.

EA has no idea how to make Simms. Be it Live- LOL or Triple play and now sad to say the NHL series look how long their soccer game has sucked. They cater to the masses and have never made realist gameplay the number one priority.

FloridaGators is right on the money. I'd hate it if every basketball game played the same. It shapes up perfectly now with 2k3 being the sim oriented, Live being the fun-n-gun game, and Inside Drive probably being a comfortable medium.

Live is just a fun as hell game to play. It reminds me of the days when me and my buds would play LIve 95 to the wee hours of the morning.

Yeah Brandon, what does EA know about making games...they are only the undisputed #1 software company in the industry and have been making FUN games that appeal to the MASSES (btw-what's wrong with that anyway?) for the better part of 10 years...

Maybe you should apply for CEO and tell them a thing or two about making games that AREN'T FUN, that DON'T APPEAL TO THE MASSES and that will sell LESS COPIES.

Gator, I agree. Change of pace is good. It's funny how if EA has a game that isn't totally sim it's "a change of pace". if anyone else does a game that's not as sim it's "arcadey". Now, I'm not calling you out Gator - I know you better than that, but when I checked out Live, what pissed me off most is that they took away so much of the sim feeling that was ever there, it's was ridiculous. Now Madden versus NFL2k3 is a change of pace. Live and NBA2k3 have a MUCH wider gap and I'm not talking quality either.

To answer the thread, I say they WILL make a sim bball game again IF and ONLY IF they feel the pain in sales. If Live is good, then it must be good for a group of people in which I'm not a member. I'm not buying to send a message to EA - if I want arcade, I'll buy Street not Live. I want a sim.

Does anyone know if EA Canada did this game? I'm just wondering.

One more thing, you people have to realize that EA as a company is one of the most savvy in ANY indutry. But don't think it's about games there. They are smart to recognize companies that can make good game and they buy those companies. Don't think EA as a company had ANYTHING to do with the SIMS concept. Do your research before you pat the company on the back! They are the top publisher because they have the resources to gamble and they gamble like hell.

It's one of the things I resent about that company. They snatched up exclusive deals with NASCAR and FIFA. So now, there are BETTER games in racing AND soccer that don't have those licenses. That totally sucks. That HURTS those genres, IMO.
