Re: What are you thoughts on David Stern?
If you make accusations of a multi-tiered conspiracy that attacks the integrity of the league, then you better have irrefutable prove of that conspiracy or be prepared to face the consequences. Someone's going to pay dearly for Van Gundy's comments.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: What are you thoughts on David Stern?
The officiating during the Houston/Dallas game was horrible. A $100,000 fine won't solve a thing. They can't officiate Yao fairly at all. I mean it seems as if every game I watch, he's in foul trouble. I'm not saying that every foul called against Yao was a bad call by the officials. But when the officials continually screw up calls it gets very frustrating. This better be fixed.Comment

Re: What are you thoughts on David Stern?
Truth be told, I've never liked Stern, even during the League's Golden Age (IMO, 1979 - 1993). Yes, he was a big reason for the NBA's popularity with his marketing, et al, but I've always seen him as a spin doctor, someone who tries to gloss over the League's weak points.
Now, he's like a bitter man with a Napoleon Complex.Comment

Rookies dont get the same calls that vets get... this widely known around the league.
There you have it. Should Stern threaten me too?Comment

You didn't answer my question. Who are the lots of people that actually think NBA games are fixed?Originally posted by ErodPoint spreads are easier to control in basketball than football or baseball. That's why NBA games typically get less action than NFL or major league games in Vegas.Comment

Re: What are you thoughts on David Stern?
I don't think they are directly "fixed" but I do think David Stern does prefer certain teams in the NBA Finals over other teams........ IMO, the NBA needs the Heat to go to the NBA Finals, and I think he does have an influence in certain series like the Lakers/Kings series in 2002 (Game 6 in particular), but that's just my OPINION........Favorite Teams:
NBA: Houston Rockets
NFL: Tennessee Titans
MLB: Chicago White Sox
NCAA: Florida State Seminoles

but thats just it.... rookies and vets, superstars and average players should ALL get the same calls, PERIOD! The league is losing integrity because of the poor officiating. I didn`t even watch tonights games because of this issue.Comment

I think this is the prime example that many people think of. Re: What are you thoughts on David Stern?
I do believe games are fixed by refs sometimes. Dick Bavetta is notorious for this, and he demonstrated it once again during Game 3 of the Miami/New Jersey series. Shaq played through most of two overtimes with five fouls. Twice he had two OBVIOUS fouls (one was a charge, the other was obviously a hit on the wrist while a guy was driving to the hoop) that weren't called in order to keep him in the game.
You know what I find interesting now though? Van Gundy says the calls are against his team.
Though, in my opinion, I think the most profitable finals series that could happen for the NBA is Houston vs. Miami. More backstories than can be counted and HUGE backings by population, with Houston having the fourth largest population in the country, and Miami having several Shaq fans and, I hate to say it, frontrunners across the country. Having two Chinese players in that series, and one of them being Yao Ming, doesnt hurt the number of observers either. Highest ratings, and biggest profits from that finals matchup than any other, so I think if Stern were to fix any games with the refs, thats what it would be towards.NBA 2K18 ratings for several seasons generated from advanced analytics using the SportsCrunch system:

But do you like Billy Hunter?Originally posted by noa999To be succinct, I hate that ****er.

Re: What are you thoughts on David Stern?
A few years back the Milwaukee Bucks when they almost made a run to the finals came out right and said that they felt their series was fixed (I think they played the 6ers). Many people felt that last season Stern made the 1st round 7 games so the Lakers had a better chance. Also does anyone think that Van Gundy was fined 100 grand and could be banned because he might be dangerously close to the truth? At this point i could see Stern sending a very intimidating man to meet Van Gundy in a dark alley at 3 in the morning to tell him "You're in too deep and you better step off".As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"Comment
