Re: What are you thoughts on David Stern?

According to Dan Patrick, Van Gundy is in serious trouble of being suspended for considerable time next year if he doesn't reveal his source. Patrick said he was told that Stern hasn't been this ticked off in a long time.

Patrick also reiterated that the league thinks Van Gundy invented this so-called source.

Coaches should be able to speak their mind on anything as long as it is not false. I still don't get why they don't get freedom of speech in the NBA.
Officials have long been punished, it just has never been made public.

All in all, my complaints arent about Van Gundy anyhow, its the leagues refusal to even acknowledge that there just might be an issue with refereeing.

We all know they cant make all of the calls. We also know they blow some big time calls all throughout the year.

We know they never ever hold the refs accountable for anything.

We know they cant be perfect as it is impossible, so lets do something similar to what the writer said. Give the coaches one or two challenges a game, to review a play.
Not a bad idea. I agree with you that the refs are terrible and that something needs to change. My fault for going off on a bit of a tangent with the JVG thing. There have been a lot of blown calls and no-calls in all the series that I have spent any time watching, but I have not noticed any one team getting more cheap calls than another.

As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

            Beat me to it, Taur3asi3.

Stern in no way brought the League to greatness by himself. Bird, Magic and Jordan were a BIG reason, hell, the MAIN reason, the NBA got big.

Naturally this would lead to more foul calls on that player.

And that's what Van Gundy pretty much affirms. He may have implied some "conspiracy" by the way he addressed the topic, but there really IS no conspiracy.

I think Van Gundy and Stern are both wrong on this one, and are making this into a much bigger problem than it should be.

Hi Neo...the problem here bro is that by saying "an official told me this" he tars them all with the same brush.

ALL officials are therefore in some way slandered. That they actively get together and single guys out...in this case Yao.

              He questions their integrity immediately.

As the boss, Stern would have to have no nuts to put up with that...

JVG owes it to the officials NOT involved to say who it is...thus clearing the others.
