The NBA is far from garbage right now. I'm mainly back into it because we have ourselves a ball-team again though.

Re: BASKETBALL at a all Time Low!!

I almost find it ironic that the level of interest in basketball has risen the same year that the worst incident in pro basketball took place, the brawl in Detroit. Im not saying the two are directly related, or that people like basketball more because of it but it is ironic indeed. On a further note, I have been getting more and more dissapointed in basketball these days and I have to admit there are few teams that know how to play team basketball correctly, I think minus the defense that Phoenix is the second most sound basketball team in the league only behind Detroit. I must admit though that the lack of team balance in my eyes isnt what is causing my increasing dissapointment its more the lack of any decent officiating. I find it laughable that the ref's are wanting Van Gundy fired but yet NBA ref's can blow multiple calls in a game and there are no reprimands at all. I think the NBA needs to institute some sort of scoring guide to score ref's with and over so many points they can get suspended or at the very least lose their ability to ref the playoffs.

Sounds sorta like what they were doing in baseball for a while having some computerized system grading the umpires strike zone. Cant remember what it was called though. Refs are my only complaint in the NBA. If they actually called more fair games, I'm sure the entire outcome of the playoffs would have been diffrent.

On the same note, I had a friend who wants the NBA refs to be robots of some sort who call the game down the line. Well I disagreed with that notion because human error can cause for some memorable moments(Game 6 LA-Sac). The human element of officiating is sorta responsible for what makes sports so enjoyable...at times.....if the calls go into your teams favor......I would be all for your suggestion of a reprimanding system that forces refs to call the game down the line.

Just because they are not in the playoffs doesn't mean that basketball is garbage.
Please dont ever again affiliated me with those lakers. I HATE THE LAKERS. since jerry west and until now and forever. I dont know what basketball you guys are watching but basketball sux right now. I am a realist unlike many of the dum post i read. Someone said the title is up for grabs this year. Dont think so man the spurs will win TRUST ME!! There are no rivalries in basketball anymore. No more knicks and heat, blazerz-jazz, or jazz and bulls. No more lakers and kings whbich was the last good rivalry i mite add. the sixers vs boston lost its swagger.i can go on forever about the great rivalries but they are just gone and basketball needs to be rejuvenated personally.

Its also way too much commercialism and dick eating. Everybody is so obsessed with Lebron. Your probable saying hell yeah he's young and averages 27 7 7. thats great in all but I have taken the cavaliers to as many playoffs as lebron 0. aND ME AND LEBRON both average the same exact stats in the playoffs 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0. People are qucik to look at stats for players who dont produce when its actually time too.

While I can't speak for everybody, on any given game night in an NBA city there's over 17,300 people disagreeing with you, an all-time high. I guess they're all "dum" because it is a fact that basketball "sux" right now.

I don't think it's at an all time low but I have to say for some reason it's just not "fun" to watch. It seems like I only tune in during the 4th quarter of a close game.

Basketball isn't at a all time low but I still prefer what I watched in the late 80's to mid 90's instead of what I see today.

OK but you're just lookin at it from one side. The NBA probably has the most known stars out of any sport so it's not like the sport is declinin in every area. Basketball games are pretty much every night and with how frequently your favorite team plays, your chances to see them are better than in the NFL so most fans aren't in this rush mode to see their team when they know they have plenty of chances. In the NFL It's only that one Sunday and countin the bye, you are gonna jump on a chance to go see your team play or watch them on TV because it's a good break from the next time you'll be able to see them. I just think the "thug" labels and off the court issues give the NBA a bad rep but true fans of not only their teams but the sport as a whole will always be there. It's only those bandwagon Laker and Bull fans that quit payin attention once their team is eliminated. The off the court issues and thug labels kill the NBA and it's weird to me that the other sports don't get the same reps. Just from today look at Onterrio Smith. You probably won't hear about him again until the start of the season. If that was your average NBA player, it'd be a story and a chance to cheap-shot him for the rest of his career. If anyone heard the ridiculous comments made by John Rocker, you would really take that to heart. Ofcourse you probably won't hear about it after this week. Jermaine O'Neal in a way sort of teased with the race issue and he was slammed for a good period of time but Rocker's comments were so outrageous that people just let them slide because "It's Rocker".

Re: BASKETBALL at a all Time Low!!

The main problem with today's NBA compared to the past is that the 15-20 foot jump shot has become a lost art and a lack of pure bred point guards. I thought it was at an all time low during the Lakers recent 3 year run, but I think this year has shown some signs of picking back up and Steve Nash is as close to John Stockton as you'll get for a while.

As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

The nba should of stayed 3 out of 5 in the first round. There is no need to prolong that round. The playoffs will get better in the two conference finals. But the playoffs now are not as exciting as it was in the 90's.

i dunno, maybe its because i didnt have LEAGUEPASS this year, but i'm defintely loving all the basketball that I am able to watch.

Athletic prowess, speed, execution of plays. Maybe I'm a sucker for just watching good athletes perform, but the nba hasn't dropped at all for me/
