Re: BASKETBALL at a all Time Low!!

I really tried to give the NBA another chance this year. I have LeaguePass, I watched a ton of games early in the season, stopped watching for a while, and then gave it another shot the last month or so of the season. It's just become unbearable for me to watch now. After the NFL the NBA was my favorite league/sport to watch, but now, I have almost zero interest in it at all.

This will be the last year I have LeaguePass.

I already have several times. In these forums. Here's the readers digest version:

It's all the clutching and grabbing, the iso's, the forced up 3 balls out of the forced 2 man game, the flopping, slowed tempo, etc, etc, etc.

I could go on forever on why the NBA now bores me to tears.

I think some of this has to do with the region that some people are located in. I am willing to bet that if you surveyed fans in the Phoenix area for example, many of them would tell you that they are really excited about the playoffs and the NBA in general. The same fans polled in the Los Angeles area would probably tell you that they have no real interest in the NBA playoffs since the Lakers have fallen apart.

I personally feel the NBA is doing ok. I read an article indicating that the attendance numbers were up this year. The NBA is not great IMO but no nearly as un-watchable as some people are making it out to be. Look at MLB right now with the steroids issue and look at the NHL with no season. BTW I forgot hockey was gone. The NFL and Colllege Football are growing like crazy. I'm already excited for the upcoming college football season and it's still May.

The NBA will still be ok at the end of the day and will keep a steady fan base. They just have to find a way to get their mega-star "LeBron James" into the playoff picture.

I've lost a lot of interest in the NBA but I would say the league as a whole is doing fine. Attendance was at a all-time high this season (although figures can be misleading), their tv contract is solid, and they have a lot of players that appeal to sponsors.

The only thing that could put a dent in the NBA is the CBA that's about to expire. Hopefully both sides get a deal done sooner than later.
