    Ray Ray...Again...

Mods, feel free to merge this with the thread called "The sonics are doing a lot of talking" but I just wanted to post about the ongoing fued between BB and Ray Allen...

    Now Allen is saying...

"Same old Bruce," Allen was quoted by the Seattle Times after Game 1. "I got caught on his foot, and it just turned. He's good for that. He's done that before."

Bowen insists he was just playing defense and seems to be over this ongoing feud between the two players.

"You see what's going on," Bowen said. "At this point it's like, 'Whatever, Ray.'"

As much as I hate Bruce Bowen because of the hell he gives Kobe, he's not a dirty player IMO. I think these days in the NBA there is so less of an emphasis placed on defense that the slightest touch on a player is considered a dirty tactic by some people. He's physical and I just think he hangs his hat on defense because he knows that is his strength, so at times he can appear overly-aggresive. Dirty? NO...

He is in fact dirty cause he always sticks his foot out on shooters and they end up falling of his foot, spraining their ankles...Vince Carter wasn't the first to have to endure that,If I remember well correctly...

Who else did that happen to? I dunno, if I'm goin to consider that dirty then I guess Reggie Miller is just as dirty for the kick-out he uses when shootin the jumper. It's not goin to guarantee an injury but it gives him an unfair advantage and he sure ain't the only one I've seen do it.

There is a difference though.. Miller does that to get a foul called... the other technique that Carter/Allen whoever claims Bowen uses can and will cause injuries

I'm not saying Bowen is dirty or not, but I just see him as a physical defender that most NBA players, specially the 'superstars' are not used to and get easily frustrated. Bowen is one of those people who get in your head and piss you off... sounds like the Rodman technique

Reggie has always been known to use every advantage in the book. He'll push off opponents to create space for a jump shot....When he sticks out his leg,I think he does that to get hit more often so he can possibly get a 3 or 4 point play.I wouldn't necessarly call it "dirty"...

Yet it definitley is different but at the same time, Miller can cause an injury if his oh-so-happens to lash out at the wrong spot.

I agree though, I don't see a wrong answer because we all have our own definition of dirty. I haven't seen Bowen do enough bad things to call him dirty. He definitley does frustrate players and that could in return force them to target him and label him as dirty. Now that its becomin more of an issue, I'll surely be watchin for it.

                    Re: Ray Ray...Again...

creating disadvantages isn't really cheating....being bigger faster more athletic shooting better etc creates disadvantages...

what bowen is doing isn't that its creating an unfair disadvantage, its INJURING players, and thats not right

miller's shot when he kicks his legs out his way more natural, when most people shoot anyways they're legs come forward naturally, plus the defender likely won't get injured, because he's aware of miller plus it wouldnt cause injury anyways

when bowen does it to an offensive player its different, the player is on his way down and his concentrating his shot and is in midair, its way harder to NOT land on bowen if he places his legs in the right place...and its just dirty

Bowen has always played outside the rules. I have always had a problem with it. Ben Wallace, Ron Artest, GP and Pippen in their younger days, are/were good defenders who were never accused of playing dirty. There is a difference. I can't speak to what Ray is talking about, but I can vouch for Bowen being dirty, I've seen it too many times.

As a Seattle fan...Ray's comments have led to 3 quick fouls on Bowen or the refs are noticing the physical play of Bowen's Defense.

Either way, we're still down and not passing the ball around. A lot of game left...

BB is a good defender, but sticking your foot under someone else's is straight dirty.

Anyone remember when he hit Wally Szcerbiak with a flying Bruce Lee cross kick?
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

I use to think that BB was the D player of the year, but after i found out that he sticks his foot out when his check is shooting and how dirty that is, he is a player that should be hated & a player that the refs should target. Now I personally hate him because of his mentality to injure players, especially after I saw Bowen intending to injure Ray again. Well done Ray for complaining his tartiness.
