***The Unofficial San Antonio Spurs Discussion Thread***

Welcome to Operation Sports' unofficial home of the four time world champion San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs have won 4 NBA titles (1999, 2003, 2005, and 2007) and have arguably the best active NBA player in Tim Duncan. Complement Tim with point guard Tony Parker, who was married to Desperate housewives star Eva Longoria, and Argentina's Manu Ginobili, a great shooter and slasher, Bruce Bowen, and Fabulous Fabricio Oberto and you have what it takes to win another NBA Title.

The Spurs are a dynasty comparable to the great Lakers and Celtics teams of the past. In twenty years, you will look back at the Spurs and see one of the top 5 NBA dynasties of all time. The common thread, Tim Duncan.

                Spurs Bolwout Bucks!

                http://www.nba.com/spurs/gameday/071111.html

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Manu Ginobili scored 21 points and the San Antonio Spurs routed the Milwaukee Bucks 113-88 on Sunday night.

Michael Finley added 17 points and Tim Duncan had 16 points for the Spurs, who led by double digits for the last three quarters.

Mo Williams scored 17 points for the Bucks and Michael Redd had 14 points.
The Bucks had lost four of their last five in San Antonio heading into Sunday's matchup, but won both games against the Spurs last season.

The Spurs were up 65-38 at the half, and with the Spurs shooting about 60 percent and the Bucks around 40 percent, it only got worse for Milwaukee in the third quarter. Ginobili hit another 3, and two free throws apiece from Parker and Francisco Elson gave the Spurs a 40-point cushion with 2:59 left in the period.

But Williams and Redd led a 10-0 run for the Bucks in the final 2 1/2 minutes of the quarter to reduce the deficit to 91-61 with 12 minutes to play.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich took out all of his starters for the beginning of the fourth, and the Bucks were able to take advantage - to a point. Bobby Simmons hit two 3s over in a 1:10 span to help cut the Spurs' lead to 97-72 with 9:08 left.

The Bucks got within 23 points several times in the fourth, but no closer.
The Spurs took the lead for good when Finley's 3 with 8:06 left in the first broke a 10-all tie.

Yi Jianlian scored 13 points and Andrew Bogut added 10 for Milwaukee.
Elson, Tony Parker and rookie Ian Mahinmi each had 12 points for the Spurs. Darius Washington had 11.
Notes: Sunday's game was the first of four that the Spurs will use this season to celebrate the franchise's 35th anniversary. ... The Spurs outscored the Bucks 29-14 in the second quarter. ... The Spurs hit 8 of 20 3-point attempts. ... San Antonio shot 39-of-70 (56 percent) from the field. The Bucks finished 34-of-82 (42 percent.)

Wow, I just saw that. He was 2/13 from the field.

Tonight's game is ugly. This is definitely not typical San Antonio Spurs defense.

That sounds good. I really did not like the trade until I learned that Barry may be coming back. So basically, the trade is Elson/Thomas then? If so, that is a very good deal. Were there any draft picks traded or anything?

Well, the Spurs barely eeked out a win against the Bucks tonight. Manu had another great game, scoring 30 points, including the game-winning bucket. Next game, Sunday at 6:00 Eastern!
