I look forward to the day when D'Antoni is no longer our head coach.

Re: The 2011 New York Knicks: The Rebirth
This team is getting closer to late last season for me: unwatchable. Just more of the same."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: The 2011 New York Knicks: The Rebirth
Tonight should be enough evidence to quiet any fool who thought starting Amare at the 5 was even an option. The defense tonight has been as bad or worse than it was over the last few seasons.
Mozgov has fallen out of the rotation, I don't know if AR isn't fully healthy yet or Mike is just playing headgames with another young player and without Turiaf tonight it's just pathetic.
To top it all off, I have no faith in D'Antoni being able to get a team like this over the hump."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: The 2011 New York Knicks: The Rebirth
We'll NEVER, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER win without DEFENSE.
LMAO...D'Antoni AGAIN draws up a 3-point play for Amare.
I don't care if he made it...THAT'S PATHETIC. He's a joke of a head coach.
What's that 3 or 4 games where he's done that.Comment

Re: The 2011 New York Knicks: The Rebirth
How bad is Turiaf hurt? We need him. And you would think the one positive to losing him is getting Mozgov and Randolph minutes, but they got 10 minutes combined.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: The 2011 New York Knicks: The Rebirth
Getting very close to. But honestly don't know who could run this squad any better. Most coaches are gonna look for SOMETHING big inside and while Turiaf is a scrapper I don't know if he'll fill the bill for what a more conventional head coach is looking for. Unfortunately the make-up of this team fits D'Antoni and D'Antoni alone. Just the way it is.Comment

Re: The 2011 New York Knicks: The Rebirth
Was at the game and couldn't help but chuckle every time the defense chant started up, one side of the crowd should chant defense and the other side should say please.
All that aside one of the best atmospheres @ a Knick game I've ever been to from start to finish except that atrocious stretch in the third. The comeback was very exciting and David Lee got a great ovation and tribute.

The new roster is really showing itself right now. There's no spacing on the floor. The offense is to predictable. Too much standing around waiting for the ball. It's all about 3's please.
I know it's still early, but they better get it together soon. I'd be surprised if we beat the wolves tonight the way were playing.
Also can D'Antoni settle on a rotation already. This shuffling of players is getting ridiculous & doesn't help the confidence of his players

Re: The 2011 New York Knicks: The Rebirth
The offense wasn't the problem. They scored 117 points. It was defense. And you have to blame D'Antoni for that.
We gave up more than 50% of the points in the paint.
Why didn't he have Mozgov in trying to block shots or A. Randolph to increase the defensive presence in the post??

Re: The 2011 New York Knicks: The Rebirth
It's both.
As a lot of the beat writers have been saying the last couple games - Gallo and Amare do not look comfortable in the offense. It is so insanely simplistic and every single game we go through the lull of being nothing but a team of jumpshooters and every single game that we're in and lose that plays a huge role. As a whole we are terrible at protecting the basketball. A lot of stupid, unforced turnovers.
Amare is pretty much going 1-on-4 at minimum in most cases (it's a small miracle he's putting up the numbers he is right now) and is a turnover machine. Breen and Tripuka were discussing it last night, when Amare gets the ball there is zero movement from other players. Granted you want to give him space, you can still relocate on the perimeter to give Amare another option when he puts the ball on the floor.
Defensively, little needs to be said. If we played D like they did last night on my friggen HS team the entire team would have been benched and our coach would have gone through his allotment of timeouts by halftime. Yes, we're small and have no real presence inside defensively but last night was just horrific, people constantly turning their heads and losing sight of their man. Just terrible fundamental defense, no mental toughness, no accountability."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
