Thanks for that. Nice story. Good for him and hopefully he remains focused on family and basketball.

Yes, it's great to read those type of stories when troubled people finally "get it" and straighten themselves out. No surprise he's finally having some success on the court again because of it.

With D'Anfoni, it's all about how you practice. That's why Randolph can't get a sniff of playing time.

I will be watching us get revenge tonight instead of Jets/Pats.

              Came in thread
              Saw Brook Lopez getting love
              Went to Bobcats/Nets game
Brook looked like garbage. He was a black hole & forced up everything.

              Bobcats/Nets were just both terrible.

wow man 10 wins in the last 11 games! Stat named Eastern conference player of the week for the second straight week.

Knicks are 13-9! Unfortunately i haven't been watching them much. for those of you guys that have. What have they been doing differently?

Specifically What has D'antoni done to change up the offense?

I definitely see a higher defensive intensity from the Knicks, as slight as it may be its still great to see.

Well Amare scoring out of his mind right now, has gone a long way towards helping.

I'm just glad that I have a team that I can feel good watching again.

I think a 42-45 win season would be a good building block going into next year and courting Melo int he offseason.

I would not trade for Melo in season, and blow up my depth, under any circumstances.

If you think you can get him...you might as well just wait, and not give up any valuable role players.

                    1. D'Antoni has shifted Bill Walker out of the rotation in favor of Shawne Williams. This was a HUGE move as Williams has been money from 3-point range. I won't look up the stats but he's probably hit at least 75% of the 3s he's taken. He's long, athletic and plays under control unlike Walker. He knows his role.

                    2. D'Antoni has gone away from the Mozgov experience and only gives him minutes to spell Amare and Turiaf. Moz looks like a bumbling fool and has no hands or coordination. He needs time. Some applies to Randolph as well.

That's where I give credit to D'Antoni. The rest has been on the players IMO. They're playing aggressive, collapsing defense. Not throughout an entire game but long stretches.

The Pick & Roll is coming together giving Stat easy buckets. Felton playing a heady floor leader and good defense. Chandler is aggressive on offense and hitting shots.

We haven't beaten the NBA's elite but they've been very impressive.

At least they're beating the teams they should beat. Schedule gets tougher after Denver on Sunday.

The two biggest things for me are...

                        1. STAT and Felton getting rid of the losing culture in the locker room. This was the turning point in the season and is directly responsibly for the improved effort on defense.

                        2. D'Antoni's offensive adjustments. After 10 games of just iso'ing Amare at the top of the key and having him go 1-on-5 while everyone else looked lost, disinterested or just floated around the perimeter Mike finally adjusted and our O has been great since then. More guys involved, better ball movement and off-ball movement.

These are parts why, but offensively he's tweaked the offense to add some elements of the Triangle. Ever since this tweak our offense has been devastating. It's improved the spacing of the players. Player's are not standing still as much any more. Players are making the extra pass. More importantly we making shots. Hitting around 50% of shots.

I just don't understand why it took so long to institute this triangle?

Maybe the guys were still learning it and he was hesitant to have them use it during a game.

Me thinks D'Antoni realized that if the Knicks faltered this year and continued playing as badly as they did, he'd be fired, so it was time to just add more offensive schemes.

Still doesn't really excuse why he went with such a basic offense for so long. I can't understand it.

That's what I think too. Maybe he was getting heat from Walsh.
