We definitely saw it.

But, I think we also hoped there would be some improvement (even if only a little) with Carmelo and Billups on the roster.

Like I said earlier, I don't mind losses against top teams. It's losing to Cleveland, Indiana and Detroit that ticks me off. Knicks should be better than that.

Is offense really the problem tho? We all know it isn't. The defensive schemes are trash. The coaches offensive gameplan is blah. The Knicks could be up by 20 with 8 mins to go and it still isn't secure cuz they are allowed to shoot up shots with 20 seconds still left on the shot clock.

How often do they run the pick and roll with Melo and Amare?

No, I don't mean to say that the offense is the problem. So long as Melo and STAT are on, that's an easy 40-50 points from two men. Throw in a few three-pointers from the Corner Assassins and you've got yourself 15+ points. That's nice to know right there.

But, what I am noticing is the Knicks are uncomfortable on offense. Guys are standing around and I think some of that is because the playbook is a few plays and Iso. I know Melo is supposed to be a good Iso player, but it kills a team that desperately needs movement because they are built on shooters.

D'Antoni develops some nice plays and all five men could be moving, making something happen.

And when that happens, defense can also improve (I'm not suggesting this is the only thing that would improve defense). Right now, the Knicks are finding themselves at a disadvantage when no one knows who should crash the boards, who should drop back after a shot, etc. It creates mismatches on defense off a miss and also creates transition points for the opposition.

A good offense can clean up those mistakes on defense.

They'll need more on defense to fix the rest.

And it's how they are losing too. You're gonna blow a game here or there. But the Knicks aren't blowing a game because those teams were hot. They blew it because...well, I tried to promise myself I stop talking about it.

That is a good article, and he asks some questions of D'antoni that just shows me that he isn't a good coach.

Something to consider also is the Knicks have played a tremendous amount of games in a row this month. I've never seen a team play soo many games without a break.

It's a very good point. Come Playoff time, none of this will matter.

I guess even if the Knicks only start to jell in the last three games of the season, at least they jelled heading into the playoffs. It could be 10 games or one game. Once it happens, hopefully if it happens, they'll step up in the playoffs.

At their peak, the Knicks only favorable matchup is Miami. Like NY, they're top-heavy, with little size and a thin bench.

The last team the Knicks want to face is Chicago. Rose vs. Billups? No thanks.

I think a COHESIVE Knicks team can beat Miami.
Stat > Bosh all series....if the pick and roll is worked correctly.
The Knick Bench/roleplayers is gonna have to out play the Heat bench/roleplayers.
The defense is gonna suck, and Wade/James are gonna get theirs. Stop the rest of the team.
Both teams will be new to the Playoffs as a team. That messes w/ the variables.

Definitely agree that Miami is a favorable match-up and quite honestly, if the Knicks can only get to the Second Round this year, it'd be enough to be proud of here. Especially if they beat the Heat to get there.

And if I want to be really realistic, just making the playoffs is a nice start for this franchise. I'd just like them to get there at 42-40 if possible.

I dont get this idea that the Knicks should be by default beating certain teams.

The game is alot about matchups.

There are teams that are "lower" in the W Column that simply have your number.

Only ELITE team have the right to say anything like "we should beat this or that team".

Milwaukee is playing 500 ball right now. The Knicks have lost 3-7 in the last 10 games.
Why SHOULD you beat Milwaukee???

28 wins vs 35. That not a BIG difference.
