    Official Chicago Bulls Thread!

    Chicago Bulls 2010-11 Season:
62-20 1st East Lost 1-4 in ECF vs. Miami Heat
    Team leaders:
    PPG: D.Rose 25.0
    RPG: J.Noah 10.4
    APG: D.Rose 7.7
    SPG: R.Brewer 1.3
    BPG: J.Noah 1.5

    Season Highlights
    D.Rose-MVP
    T.thibodeau-COTY

    62-20 1st overall
    D.Rose 1st team all Nba
    J.Noah All defensive 2nd team

Great season ended in a tough loss to Miami in the Eastern conference finals. What/who surprise you the most with this years team? Who was the biggest disappointment?

What moves do you think this team has to make to win a championship? Offseason, Draft, etc.

    Current draft picks: 28, 30, 43

    Re: Official Chicago Bulls Thread!

First off, thanks for making this. I hope that all the Bulls fans can discuss the Bulls here. I know there are a lot of fans on OS.

Biggest surprise: D. Rose. I knew he would progress, but I didn't think he'd be arguably the best PG in the league by 22. Also the Bulls having the best record in the league.

Disappointment: Losing in the playoffs. I'm happy that we got to the ECF (before the year I thought we'd be lucky to get to the 2nd round), but it sucks losing. Especially to the Heat.

Along with that I was disappointed in Boozer's postseason play. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm starting to think that Booz and Noah don't play well together. During the regular season we didn't see that because they would each get injured after the other one got healthy.

I have 2 theories for boozers struggles with Noah:

    1) Noah stays in the paint on offense bringing another defender to help on boozer, whereas in Utah he played with Memo Okur who camped out at the three point line; freeing up the middle for boozer.

    2) Noah and Booz never had a training camp or pre-season game together. And during the season they got injured frequently, and once one of them got healthy the other went down. As a result of this they were continuing to learn to play with each other in the playoffs. (I hope this is right, so during the long offseason they can practice together and get a feel for eachothers games)

Draft: Ideally get Marshon Brooks (which is doubtful). If not continue to add depth like Shelvin Mack who can shoot and back up Rose, and hopefully a SF that can give Luol some time to rest.

Offseason: Ideally trade for DHoward (which is also doubtful).

Other options will probably be looking at FA SG's. My preferences would probably be: Richardson, Afflalo, Crawford, JR Smith

If we were to trade I would want Kevin Martin (who i think fits perfectly with the bulls) or OJ Mayo. If we do trade, I just want to make sure not to give up to much.

And if the chance to dump Boozer comes, they should probably go ahead and do it.

      Re: Official Chicago Bulls Thread!

Good looks. This will be my favorite thread now.

I am not feeling the whole Dwight Howard hype for a few reasons.

      1) Hypocritical. Too many Bulls fans hated on LBJ for joining up with other superstars but when the Bulls can do it, it's all good. Not a knock on you, just me speaking out of personal experiences with some friends.

      2) Bench mob is pretty much gone. I still am a fan of team basketball and with Howard we would need to give up too much. A 62 win team does not need another superstar in my opinion.

As far as filling the hole at the 2 guard spot, I like J.R. Smith the most. I think he could be a difference maker for the Bulls. Can you imagine if we had J.R. Smith against the Heat in the finals? Smith would be a nice addition.

I think Bulls should look at dumping Boozer to the Nets with the selling point of Booz and Williams. I haven't thought too deeply into this but it would be worth a shot even if it doesn't go through. If not, I am not opposed to seeing what Boozer can do when he is 100% healthy which is doubtful to ever occur but its wishful.

I wouldn't, Richardson is too old. I want us to stay young. Plus, Smith will probably come cheaper.

Personally I'm hoping for some sort of sign and trade deal with the Kings for Thornton, but I may be dreaming.

As disappointing as Boozer was in the playoffs, I want to give him one more chance. Noah and Boozer really didn't get that much time on court together, so it's really hard to build that chemistry between them. Knowing where each want to be in the paint, knowing where to go when Boozer makes a move. I think all that can be learned next year. My biggest concern is Boozer giving a concentrated effort on defense this season, seeing he was basically playing matador in the playoffs.

We don't need Howard. As amazing as that would be, not sure the deal would be attractive for what we have to sacrifice. Which would be our depth, unless we can con them into taking Boozer, hoping Otis Smith has one more bad trade left in him.

I just think that Richardson would be a better fit with the Bulls

If we do get Smith, I hope that Thibs can get his offensive game under more control and also turn him into a defender. He has all the potential in the world to be a great defender...if he puts effort into that part of his game.

I still want him, but I would prefer JRich

                Re: Official Chicago Bulls Thread!

Seeing this draft is week, I would be content with the Bulls trading them away for future picks.

That said, if they do keep the picks. I wouldn't mind seeing them take a chance on Chandler Parsons. He's got great length and size. Can't shoot from the perimeter but has shown that he can get to the rim if needed.

At 6'10, he could create some mismatches on the perimeter and if he concentrates on becoming a better defender, could really be tough to deal with on that side of the floor.

Marshon Brooks, because I think he can step in right away and provide some spark.

As for trading Boozer, I think I'm in the minority that wants to keep him. He played pretty decent once he got back from injury and he's our only low post threat right now. I think he'll do a lot better next season.

As for as free agency and the draft, I just want to get some more scorers.
There's a lot of rumor that's gonna be going around especially from now to draft day. If you hear anything just post here. Some of the "rumors" I've heard are.....
                  Watson 28+30 for A.Morrow and 27
                  Watson 28+30 for N.Robinson and 24

Watson is one guy I don't mind letting go, but I don't know how much I like those deals.

Lets think realistically here. Brooks is pretty much for sure going to go Top 15. Unless we trade up, we have no shot of getting him.

I don't want either of those deals. Watson is very undervalued it seems like. He did a great job adjusting this year and can provide huge spark of the bench in a short amount of time. I think we are set with him. We need to focus on depth for the 2 and someone to spell Deng but can score so he doesn't need to play as many minutes.

I agree with keeping Watson around. He is very undervalued if he is being considered as trade bait. I should thank the poster that said we need another small forward to give Deng more rest. Even though he wont complain, the deeper the team, the better off we are.

I am not sure about Booz just yet. While I think he did step up a few times in the playoffs, he was just too unreliable. I am hoping that it was a matter of Noah and Booz not playing on the floor together....

That's what I'm thinking. Because normally boozer is a good post-season performer. I think the turf toe also effected his production.

A Duke player other than Kyrie Irving will likely be selected in the first round. The word is that the Nets are high on Kyle Singler at No. 27 and the Bulls are high on Nolan Smith at No. 28 or No. 30. The Nets have been targeting a small forward that can knock down outside shots. The Bulls have been targeting a backup point guard for Derrick Rose that can also play alongside him in a shooting guard role. The Hoops Report
