Stoudemire believes he sacrificed for the better good of the Knicks after Carmelo Anthony arrived last season and has blown his chance this season.

The Knicks’ two highest-paid players, Carmelo Anthony (left) and Amar’e Stoudemire, both struggled at times during the first half of the season.

“No worries,’’ said Stoudemire late Thursday night in Miami after the Knicks entered the All-Star break following their loss to the Heat. “I’ve spent a year where I’ve pretty much had to sacrifice a lot of my game. Whatever it takes to win. That’s the ultimate goal. If it’s sacrificing the All-Star Game for the betterment of the team, it’s how it goes sometimes.’’

He has definitely sacrificed but I'm not sure if he's using that as an excuse for his random spurts of energy which has me questioning his motivation.

The article states that STAT is sharing pick and roll duties with Chandler and has yet to click with Lin...maybe if Stoudemire actually set a pick instead of pretending too he would be able to roll.

I'm still incredibly confused by Stoudemire this season. He doesn't appear to be a veteran. Looks more like a confused rookie. He says he wants to take a back seat for the betterment of the team when the team is under .500. Who exactly is benefitting?

Amare is just off, out of it, however you want to phrase it. He's never had great hands but this year he can't catch a cold. His J is way off, hell at this point I'm wondering if his hands are a bigger issue than his knees.

But the Knicks aren't going anywhere unless the two stars get their **** together. Forget about Jeremy Lin - Amar'e and Carmelo have to step it up and raise their game to match Lebron & Wade, otherwise forget it.

Knicks have to come out of AS break strong, and get up to the 6th spot or higher. Don't want to play Miami or Chicago in the first round.

I've bolded what is vital to our success. Melo needs to step up, cuz dude hasn't looked top 10 since his 40pt performance in the playoffs last year.
Stat looked like a Superstar until we got Melo and then got injured. and we all know how he looks this year.
If those 2 guys can step up and play like stars instead of the role players they've been the last few weeks, we can beat anybody. Lets hope something drastic is occuring during this break.

                  1. D'Antoni loves him.
                  2. Chandler is banged up and I'm not sure if he can sustain his durability.
                  3. Amare minutes needs to be monitored.

                  Speaking of which...
Amar'e Stoudemire was asked if he could get his explosiveness back. "Stay tuned," he said.
Stoudemire reiterated all the time he spent on strengthening his back and away from the court has contributed to him being out of rhythm
Amar'e also said his weight could have something to do with it. He added about 15 lbs of muscle. He's working on shedding some lbs.
I knew that additional muscle he put on in the summer had something to do with him.

Honestly, Harrellson doesn't really deserve the minutes. Jeffries and Novak have been playing too well to justify taking away any of their PT.

You do remember Jorts started for an injured Amare earlier in the season right?

Novak is a liability on the defensive end.

And Jeffries is worthless playing backup Center in the Pick & Roll.

Jorts more than deserves minutes unless he looks totally lost out there.

Lin has changed everything regarding the roles on this team. There is no way Novak sees a decrease in minutes and Effries is playing better than ever (did I just say that?). It's nice to have an extra big for the compact schedule the rest of the way, we want to keep Chandler fresh and get Amare back to normal. But Jorts will probably be a fringe rotation guy which is exactly what he should be IMO.

Rotation sucks. Should've made all players stay in NYC from friday-tuesday practicing. And they all should have wanted to. sub .500.

61-49 Cavs at the half. I hope Pringles laces into these fools in the locker room. They need this game.

Definitely a tail of two halves. Excellent PG play, Baron and Lin combined for 27 pts (8/16) 21 asts and 1 TO.
