True but if that's the case, why would any college coach leave for the nba? Or any pro sport for that matter. They do it because college ball is still essentially middle management in the sports world. I know the Knicks aren't the greatest or anything but that job is nothing to sneeze at, he would make a ton of money and get plenty of exposure, maybe even make a playoff run or two. -

Many people, mostly with probably no credibility, say he still has the itch to coach in the NBA again and that's his real dream. Also, granted he shouldn't have to do his typical shady stuff to win at UK, there's always the chance that he he'll to leave UK just like he left UMass and Memphis if things get hairy with the NCAA."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

He also got fired from his lone NBA head coaching gig so he has something to prove. I'd rather they keep Woodson than bring in Cal. Maybe it's just the honeymoon period but the guy has done a great job under very difficult circumstances.Comment

Don't see why Calipari should be a hot name for an NBA job. He wasn't good in his first go around, and in college he's known more for being a great recruiter than x's and o's. It would make no sense for a team to offer him a huge money contract, or to replace a guy who's doing a good job with him.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

I've always been hard on Melo though, even when he was at Syracuse. I really wanna be a fan but knowing that he has all that talent and to see him just being flat out lazy sometimes is crazy. I honestly hated the trade for us to get him at first but he keeps playing like this and I will gladly change my tune.Comment

I don't remember ever having a defensive stud at the guard position. The only names that come to mind are:
Derek Harper (old at the time we got him)
Doc Rivers (ditto)
Starks was ok.

I know I was talking crazy at the time, but can someone tell me where they think Shumpert lies defensively against former Knick guards.

Thanks. My memory isn't what it used to be. When we have a lineup of Shumpert at the 1, J.R. at the 2, Fields at the 3, Melo at the 4 and Chandler at the 5.- defensively it is extremely formidable and can shut any team down depending on the night."I'm addicted to Video Games, and i chase it with a little OS." -Winston ChurchillComment

Money. I wouldn't be surprised if we did something stupid like threw and $8-10m annual salary at him.

As for Cal's "shadiness", I'll say this - If I had a son who was great at hoops, I'd want him to play for Calipari. He can coach and to quote columnist Dave Zirin, ".....if you want a relationship with a coach that's honest and real and actually helps you excel within the corrupt ecosystem that is the NCAA, then this is the one you want in your corner."
Zirin called Calipari "a wolf in a sea of foxes". Who would you rather deal with? I'd rather deal with a wolf - like Malcolm X once said, at least you know where the wolf is coming from.Comment

Re: The 2012 New York Knicks: The Filler Year?
I had the fortune tonight of getting some free Event Level Suite tickets to tonight's game. I've never sat in anything better than the 300's for a Knicks game. Sat closer for some college games over the years but never even close to this.
We were six rows back, top of the key/3PT line extended on the Wizard's bench side. Just an amazing experience, it made me feel like a kid again and it's something I'll always remember. I didn't want the night to end.
Hung around for a solid 20 minutes after the final buzzer. Saw John Starks, Sam Perkins and Kevin Johnson either walk by our seats or back in the suite area. Very cool, KJ is tiny. All I could think of was his dunk on Olajuwon and thinking DAMN, a dude that small really did that.
On to the pics...

Who would you guys rather play in the playoffs Chicago or Miami? I think with Rose still looking hurt, I'd rather play the Bulls.
Not me. He is ballin' now, but that doesn't excuse what he was doing in the beginning of the season. When times get tough who's to say he won't quit on Woodson?Comment
