Joe & Evan are saying right now that Shawne has not officially signed with the Nets and is probably going to come back to the Knicks.

Cmon Shawne how you gonna do us like that...

Reports state we've contacted Michael Redd's camp, as well as Troy Murphy & Maurice Evans camp.

Can somebody contact DeShawne Stevenson people

lol what?? That would be funny. Although i think 4 mil a year is too much for him. I would really like it if the Knicks signed Redd as long as its for a minimum price.
If he has anything left in the tank he could definitely move the needle for us.

Shawne's a sucker for that although I understand there's no loyalty when you're talking about millions of s
dollars. I won't be surprised to see him flame out on the Nets and not get much playing time.
As good a defender that DeShawn is..I don't think he'd be able to keep outta trouble in NY but I'd take him before both Reed and Murphy. He's tough and can guard wings. Very physical.

He has one job to do:

Hit corner 3s. You can't flame out of Jersey just doing that and that only.

Oh and you don't want Troy Murphy either.

Flame out meaning clashing with Avery.
There's way more pressure being a starter and having to produce.
The Knicks picked him up off the streets and he signed because of his relationship with Donnie Walsh. There was no pressure whatsoever to perform as a guy off the bench.

Re: The 2012 New York Knicks: The Filler Year?

With more and more players coming off the market and the team really beginning to take shape these are my current thoughts.

                1. We need a scorer off the bench who can create his own offense because we have 0 scoring off the bench right now. If TD starts that leaves us with Bill Walker, Jeffries, Balkman and Bibby as our only bench players who have played in the NBA, none of whom can provide us with the needed scoring lift when Amar'e/Carmelo rest. The rest of the team is made up of Shumpert, Harrelson, Chris Hunter and Devin Green. In a repeat of last year, one of these rookies/Walker needs to step up and give us quality minutes like Fields did or we're going to be in trouble.

                2. We need a backup PF, Amar'e already said he's going to be resting this year because of the condensed schedule, seeing Shawne Williams fill that gap would've went over much better than if Knicks fans have to see Jared Jeffries start 10 games this year.

That is way I am not totally against TD coming off the bench. We don't lose much with Bibby starting. Also, I hope we go after Redd.

I'd like to see us make a run for Ish Smith since he got waived yesterday. Dude looks like he can ball.

This is why I wasn't opposed to either Redd or B Diddy, providing he can stay healthy, B Diddy starting and TD coming off the bench is better than TD starting and no one coming off the bench. Diddy will also captain the floor better than Douglas, though I would like to give Douglas a shot here and see what he can do with it. Michael Redd would also be a good pick up, he fills the void of a two guard that can consistently knock down the 3 that we have.

Wouldn't mind this at all, Ish got game. Him and Amar'e would be a very nice PnR combo.

I've never heard of Ish Smith.

Either way..I feel the opposite of most if you.

I feel we need defense off the bench. specifically perimeter defense.

                        Again..we get sucked into "scoring".

This team will be one of the highest scoring teams again. Yeah it would be nice to get a guy who can space the floor like Shawne Williams or Redd.

But we need to be able to stop guys.

I say DeShawn or Mo Evans.

I don't even think he's starting for us right off the back.

Probably be coming off the bench while Damion James will be our starter at the 3.

He's a young PG from Wake Forest, we'll see how many ACC players we can get back there. Anyway, dude is FAST. Kinda small but very, very quick. And he can pass the rock. From what I've seen, he's pretty proficient in running the pick and roll. Only knock is his shooting, though.

Caught a little of the live training camp airing on MSG. Sloppy as hell.

The first few weeks of the season are going to be gross for so many teams in the league.

                              Re: bench personnel

I'd love to get DeShawn Stevenson, if we were able to acquire him I could see him playing his way into the starting line up. Mo Evans I'll take as well.

If we can add Stevenson, Evans and Redd I"ll be somewhat happy. Is Reggie Williams still an option? Some D, some shooting. No size or explosive scorer though. Our bench will be so foul.

BTW, Pringles will be on with Francescer at 4pm today.

Reggie Williams signed with Charlotte, Evans is headed to Washington, and I think Redd is headed to Indy, so our options are drying up fast.

I would like Stevenson as well. Defense, attitude (to a degree), and can hit those open threes.
