Mike Brown with last years team or this season? -
Re: Official Los Angeles Lakers Thread
Just to be clear I'm talking about last year's roster, and we can just agree to disagree.
Switch Mike out hypothetically for Thibs or Pops last year, no doubt in my mind we would have done better.Horseshoes & HollyWoodComment

I think if Jim had his way he would keep Mike. Honestly though I'm praying to the basketball Gods that this doesn't happen. If we do fire him I don't want a coach like George Karl or anything. I had one idea for a head coach he's my avy and he just so happens to be in the national championship game so I doubt that happens.

I don't follow college ball much, although I do know he's a great recruiter. I'll assume he's good at managing all the egos of said 5 star recruits, just not sure if his coaching would translate to the pros.
I guess whatever gets Mike to take a hike I'm all for it.Horseshoes & HollyWoodComment

His coaching won't translate far as offense goes?Comment

Re: Official Los Angeles Lakers Thread
I can't speak on Cals coaching on either end it's unfamiliar territory for me, outside of managing players I don't know much about him.
Why go with a guy who hasn't coached in the league in a awhile over a guy like Nate McMillin or other assistant coaches in the league?
I wouldn't knock it either way, I just want Mike gone.Last edited by cam21224; 04-10-2014, 10:00 AM.Horseshoes & HollyWoodComment

Re: Official Los Angeles Lakers Thread
He runs a dribble drive offense(4 out 1 in). It's a equal oppurtunity offense it uses the bigs and PG equally. A PG is needed to run that offense we wouldn't get away with our PG's in past(Fisher,Smush) etc. We would need a all purpose PG(Exum)along with PF that can stretch the floor a little bit.Along with a big that can hold his own in post. Think what the Magic ran with Dwight except his version of the 4-1 is catered more to driving than shooting 3's.
Now onto Cal all around as a coach. I might be a tad bias being a UK fan but just follow me. Him and Pete Carroll(USC fan as well) are one in the same to me. Cal would have the same advantage that Pete had in drafting players. That along with Cal having an advantage of players he coached in past(won't go far and say Anthony Davis lol think Brandon Knight etc). He's already the best when it comes to getting recruit$ if you catch my drift. He also coaches the Dominican Republic National team as well. He's gotten praise from coaches and players about his coaching(LBJ,Kobe to name a few)
I think in LA he'll have the biggest recruiting stage of them all. The city of LA along with the franchise. That and alot of players have done pretty well for themselves(Coached an MVP,Cousins,AD,Wall etc). Whatever he does at UK it translate well to the NBA. Also note I don't think he was a bad coach when he coached the Nets. Remember Jerry West spurrned Cal in telling Cal that Kobe was to small, was a ball hog and probably wasn't going to make it in the NBA. Then West ended up trading for Kobe while Cal settled for Kerry Kittles. Since then Cal has become an much better coach.Last edited by Caveman24; 04-10-2014, 10:13 AM.Comment

Re: Official Los Angeles Lakers Thread
At this point the only coach left will be Byron Scott. Maybe that was their plan all along to have everyone else sign coaching gigs elsewhere and then have to settle for Scott(who they wanted all along).
I still have hopes Lionel Hollins somehow gets the job."This is for all of my peoples who understand and truly recognize. Some won't get it and for that i won't apologize"- Talib KweliComment
