Agreed, I'd rather go the route we're going than try to semi-tank and pray we draft our supporting cast for KP. As others have said, this route will also be good for KP's development - surrounded by talented vets, playing on (hopefully) playoff teams, being in a positive locker room, etc.

Re: The 2016 New York Knicks: Now that we're done tanking...

My only thing with the Rose max that I was thinking about is when he was making those comments, he may have thought the max was gonna be 23 million, not 31 or however much it was going to be. So maybe there's a situation where he plays well, raises his profile again and we do well, and the difference from the kick in his sneakers getting popular again and just being comfortable here makes it more appealing.

But yeah the fact that he was looking at a payday even then 2 years away leads me to believe the max being higher only makes his eyes light up more, I know it would mine. And again, from our standpoint, the risk might just be too high to go forward when he's the only starter we'll be in position to replace. Although with the cap going up again who knows what trades could open up?

If LeBron takes a step back given that his game relies so heavily on athleticism, KP keeps trudging forward, my dreams come true with Russ...whos standing in our way in the East with Russ, KP, and Old Man Melo who's going to score 20 per until he's 85? Everybody's laying down.

Definitely, having 1 good season in 15+ years takes its toll. Give me an entertaining product to watch night in and night out and I'm good. I have really fond memories of our historic 54 win 2nd round exit season so just give me that again.

Next offseason when we have picks again, potentially major cap space, and hopefully Porzingis taking the leap we can start worrying about building more than that.

If you compare last seasons opening night lineup to what the team is gonna be trotting out this year, it's a massive improvement.

It seems Marshall Plumlee will be on the squad as well. He's currently on the summer league team.

Our team is vastly better than last year, even with some newcomers who aren't as good as they used to be. Anyone who thinks Rose won't be a gigantic improvement didn't watch the duo of Calderon & Grant last year.

Re: The 2016 New York Knicks: Now that we're done tanking...

              We've got a hungry team.

Alex Kennedy: You told me that the Knicks were the first team to show interest in you, with Phil Jackson contacting you shortly after free agency started. What was it like receiving that call?

Courtney Lee: “Man, hearing from Phil and it being the Knicks, it was an incredible feeling. It took me back to all of the things that Phil has accomplished, and it also took me all the way back to my childhood because I grew up in Indianapolis so I used to always watch the Pacers and Knicks battle against each other. It just brought back so many memories. For them to be the first team to call me, it was a good feeling. I mean, it’s Phil Jackson. It’s New York. You’re playing in the Mecca.”

Kennedy: Did you have any discussions with Jackson or Coach Hornacek about how they plan to use you and what they want to see from you?

Lee: “We spoke about that briefly. First and foremost, he wants me to bring energy on the defensive end. I kind of feel like me and Noah will be similar in that standpoint, bringing that energy. He’ll be a rim protector and I’ll be a perimeter defender, and we just want to cause as much havoc as possible for opponents. Then, on the offensive end, they just want me to be able to spread the floor, knock down open shots, get out in transition and play freely within the offense.”

Kennedy: You mentioned Madison Square Garden being the Mecca and spoke highly of New York. What will it mean to put on that Knicks jersey and play in front of those fans?

Lee: “It’s still sinking in, man. I wake up every day and I have butterflies in my stomach, ever since I made my verbal commitment to them. Being in the NBA for going on nine years, I’ve played in the Garden a lot and there’s a special feeling when you play there. There’s so much history. The fans are there night in and night out. Even during tough times in the past when they didn’t have the best seasons, the fans were still there and supporting their team. If they’re down 20 points, you may hear some boos in there because the fans are so passionate, but then if someone makes a play or shows that they’re giving maximum effort, the fans will cheer non-stop. That’s exactly what you want. You want the fans to be just as passionate as you, so that when you’re fighting through fatigue or battling through an injury, those fans are right there cheering you on as you try to make a play or get a big stop. New York definitely has those type of fans.”
Kennedy: The fans are really excited now because of the offseason acquisitions. What are you expectations for this upcoming season?

Lee: “We’re contenders, man. They didn’t make the playoffs last year, but we’re looking to change that and win big. The ring is the ultimate goal for everybody on the team; I know it is for me. When they talked to me and told me about the pieces they were adding alongside the players who were already there, I didn’t think anything less than a championship [was the goal]. We’re trying to get the Knicks back into the playoffs and win big.”

Kennedy: Did any of the players on the Knicks recruit you as you were weighing your options?

Lee: “Before free agency, I was talking with Noah and it’s great seeing how passionate he is. This offseason, he’s getting out of breath just being on the phone – like he’s running sprints – but it’s because he’s talking about the city, talking about the fans, talking about the team and talking about everything we can accomplish together. He’s excited and he was recruiting me pretty much the entire time, telling me that I was the missing piece and what not. He kept telling me, ‘Let’s get it done!’ Noah was in my ear a lot.”

It's awesome to hear Noah so excited lol. He's going to be a mad man this year. I can't wait.

Also watching some D Rose highlights from last year and thinking between him and Melo, the other team is going to have to body slam someone on our team for us to get a call. He's another guy that gets punished and no help from the refs.

Man he is still one of the fastest players in the league & he often gets hit without a foul being called.

70% of prime D-Rose will still probably be the best PG we've had since Clyde. That is quite sad lol.

Press conference happening, I can't see it but im following Herring and Begley updating us on Twitter from work.

                      - Part of the win now approach is because they went to Melo after the season and asked if they were moving fast enough, he said he wanted an upgrade at PG, the free agent market wasn't great, so they traded for D Rose

-Once they did that it made it obvious to go after veteran free agents because it made them more attractive to free agents

                      - Also specifically mentioned the point we've discussed of Porzingis, Mills said he wanted to move the team to more of a win now space to help KP's growth

                      - Losing RoLo was like "getting a teeth pulled" but it seems he thinks Noah can do much of the similar dirty work that he did

                      - Win now kept us out of the Durant hunt (LOL)

-Phil told Brandon Jennings he expects him to be 6th Man of the Year, the Knicks in 6 jokes will be too real

On that specifically, apparently Lance called Mills and told him that him and his agent weren't even going to speak to any other teams and he just wanted to get the deal done. Unreal.

I followed Rolo because I loved his energy and craziness as a player and person. Might need to do the same with Noah.
