Re: The 2016 New York Knicks: Now that we're done tanking...
Imagine being 12 in the Isiah era and all you know is pain. We all want consistency. We just really haven't been in a great position to have it for a bunch of reasons. Hopefully we can keep our picks and move forward wisely.
I'd kill to see once what you've seen twice lol. Those 70's teams are legendary, and if we could ever recapture that kind of magic for 2 titles in 4 years, I'd be happy for the rest of my life.
The 70s were the best era in NY sports history, and not just for the Knicks. The Mets and Jets also won titles, and we had Ali/Frazier I at MSG in 1971. And those Knicks/Bullets games (before Pearl came here) were basketball at its finest, much like Knicks/Heat/Pacers/Bulls in the 90s.
I figure I have @ 25-30 more years left on this earth. I'd like to see a title before I go, but I doubt that'll happen. I just hope you youngsters aren't bitter & frustrated like me in 25 years.
As much as I bash Phil, he's our only hope. My biggest nightmare is Phil opting out after a successful season, Dolan puts his flunkies Steve Mills & Allan Houston in charge, and it's business as usual. Can't you see the front office giving Rose a max deal like Carmelo's? Yikes.......Comment

At least I dodged one bullet and grew up a Yankee fan, somehow, considering they were god awful in the 80s while the Mets were great. Not sure how my pops let that happen."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Yeah, my old man talks about that era a fair amount. Grew up on LI, graduated HS in '70 so he saw the Knicks/Jets/Mets all win during that magical two-year stretch. Also played against Dr. J in HS.

My family moved to Uniondale in 1974 (from the South Bronx). Where did your old man go to HS?Comment

There won't be room to give Rose the max after we sign Westbrook.
Who knows though? The new CBA could blow everything up and change the way contracts work. It'll be interesting to see how all of that plays out.Last edited by DieHardYankee26; 07-15-2016, 06:55 PM.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

lol Rose thinks the Knicks are a super team like the Warriors.

Phil Chronicles Part 3 is up for those who want it, http://www.todaysfastbreak.com/nba-e...s-knicks-woes/
Highlights: Players today dont have the fundamentals to play the triangle, the court is too small, Hack-A-Shaq is ruining the game. One thing is think is beneficial is that Phil used to be a player and is so intent on fundamentals. This is something I could see possibly being lost in a system with someone who cares less about the names than the numbers (Pinkie). I want to read one of his books eventually but I always find it interesting to see how Phil's thinking. On the Triangle stuff, this makes me wonder even more why Fish was fired. Obviously, he wasn't a good coach but if Phil had effectively abandoned the triangle to a degree, there has to be a reason better than "he wouldn't run the triangle and ran too many pick and rolls". If all the tabloid stuff is true I guess we'll never find out, but something obviously happened and "he was a bad coach" isn't a good enough reason when he was replaced by Rambis.Last edited by DieHardYankee26; 07-29-2016, 03:38 PM.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: The 2016 New York Knicks: Now that we're done tanking...
I'm not bothered by it, when they asked him about it a few months ago his response was "I need to see what winning feels like again" or some **** like that, I think it motivates him to play with that level of talent.
I'd be lying though if I said I wouldn't probably prefer he wasn't playing only because so much seems to be happening. The guys coming together and working out for a little while in LA, Porzingis moving above Melo's gym, it seems like this would've been a great time to build chemistry and get people on the same page.
I know repping the flag is a big deal to some of these guys though so I can't fault them for wanting to bring the gold home.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
