Melo working out with Noah at Melos midtown gym. I like how Melo is linking up with players during the off-season.
His shoulder looked good in that short clip

Re: The 2016 New York Knicks: Now that we're done tanking...
Chat with Willy/Billy...
Q: What was it like to fulfill your dream and sign your first NBA contract last week?
A: "For me, it's exciting, emotional. It's going to be a big step. I've got a great opportunity with them in the NBA. I'm working to be ready and to help the team ... . After I signed the contract, I couldn't sleep because my emotions wouldn't let me sleep. I'm very happy. These last two days everybody congratulates me and I feel happy and I can't wait to come to New York and start the season."
Q: How would you describe your relationship with Porzingis (both played together in Spain with Sevilla)?
A: "We are very close. We can say that we are like brothers. He told me about New York. He talked about me with the coaches and with the GM [Steve Mills] and with Phil. So this is a great opportunity. He's going to help me a lot. He wanted me to go there now. He told me 'Willy, don't go with me to the national team, just stay with me over the summer.' I told him, 'I have to go to the international team.' But he's going to help me for sure. I'm very happy to play with him again ... . We talk every day about that. When I'm in New York in September, October, we'll go to dinner together and hang out. I'm excited to play with him next year. He's going to help me a lot."
Q: What are your expectations for your first season in the NBA? (ESPN's Fran Fraschilla describes Hernangomez's game here)
A: "I'm just excited to start to play. But this is my first year so I'm going to listen to my teammates, listen to coaches, listen to everybody and they're going to give me advice. Everyday, I'll try to improve to help the team and do my best to win games. I'll try to use my minutes [well] and just do my best for the team."
Q: How would you describe your game?
A: "I'm a center. I love playing in the low post. I like passing the ball to my teammates ... I like to run and play fast like [head coach Jeff Hornacek] wants. I like to run the fastbreak."
Q: Did Phil Jackson, Steve Mills or Jeff Hornacek talk to you about expectations while you were in Orlando?
A: "They told me they want to see me practice with Joakim Noah and with other teammates. I just want to do my best there and we'll see. They trust me, they told me that they like my game. So I have confidence."
Q: Do you pronounce your name 'Willy' or 'Billy'?
A: "It's [pronounced] Billy. If you write my name, it's with a W. So everyone thinks it's Willy. But my mom, she was from Germany. In Germany, everyone with a [name that starts with 'W'] is pronounced with a 'B'. So that's my name. I'm going to try to explain that to everybody. But I don't care. It doesn't matter if someone calls me Willy or Billy.""You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Lots of potential...
A few ifs...
I can see us finishing anywhere from 2 to home for the playoffs.Comment

Can't see a seed that high with the moves Indy and Boston have made.
And I also think Toronto is simply better than we are. And Detroit is just a matchup nightmare.
Everything would have to break right for us to land a 6 seed.
I'm thinking 7th seed or it's an utter failure.Comment

Re: The 2016 New York Knicks: Now that we're done tanking...
Im no good with predictions and I get way too excited in the offseason but I can't see us getting any higher than 4 in a best case, and that's probably farfetched. Cleveland, Boston, Toronto, Indiana are all better teams than us. I think Detroit moves foward, Charlotte, Atlanta, and the Heat all move back. I could see us getting either 5 or 6 depending on how everything shakes out but who knows?
A prolonged injury to D Rose and we're throwing out Brandon Jennings as a starter, yikes. Porzingis shows up in his 2nd year as Dirk Mutombo and we take a top half seed. I'm just glad to have reason to be optimistic. We'll be highly watchable if nothing else. The bench is a question though, I've seen people say Hornacek might try to play Rose and Jennings together because he did that in Phoenix, but he didn't have a real 2 there so it was his best option, that is not the case here. If anything, I'd rather see D Rose's minutes staggered in a way that lets him play more with the second unit, getting them shots, but again Jennings isn't necessarily a guy I want leading the offense for an extended period. Maybe he can stagger Melo's minutes. Im not sure, but if he intends on extended minutes for a Jennings-Holliday-Lance-KOQ-Billy lineup we're going to have some severe scoring droughts.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

We want sustained success like the Knicks had in the early 70s and most of the 90s. Build a core group around Porzingis, add pieces here and there, and keep your assets (draft picks).
Is the front office smart enough to do that?Comment

What I don't want is a repeat of what happened after 2012-13, where the team fell apart following a good season with a playoff series win.

Exactly. It's why this franchise has been a joke for most of the past 15 years.
Unlike my younger Knick brethren on social media who think this team is making a deep playoff run, I'm taking a wait-and-see approach. I know better.Comment
