I mainly don't want anything to do with Payton. There's nothing about his game that I like.

I don't think there is anyway that the new guys that signed don't play a ton of minutes.

By December, some may be at the end of the bench if they don't perform, but I really don't think that's going to happen.

I know you gotta fill cap space, but I don't think the Knicks signed these players to bench them.

I don't know how Fizdale is going to do it. You suspect that the following have to play based on potential and money paid this off-season:

      Randle
      Portis
      Morris
      Gibson
      Robinson

      Payton
      Barrett
      Smith Jr.
      Knox
      Dotson
      Ellington

      That still leaves out
      Trier
      Dotson
      Ntilikina
      Brazdeikis
      Bullock (when he returns)

Either the Knicks expect injuries will take their toll and they'll have depth to back up everyone or there are going to be very frustrated vets and young players on the team.

To be honest, I like that it's a problem. Last year the Knicks were calling up guys from the development league to fill the 8th spot and down. Now, they may end up trying to find active roster spots for guys they paid $8mm or more to join them this season.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I agree with this. For chrissakes we were starting games with Luke Kornet and Kadeem Allen.

I also think Taj Gibson ends up out of the rotation and a couple of these guys will be moved at the deadline.

SN: I'm sure I'm fantasizing, but Anthony Davis has maintained that he's going to enter free agency next year regardless. Do y'all think part of the reason Perry and Mills loaded up on the types of players they did this year was to create a situation that AD can see himself sliding into? Plus, he's played with Payton and Randle already, the latter whom AD actually recruited to play in New Orleans with him.

Allen was the first person I was thinking of when I typed that out. Allen was starting! I don't think enough fans are really understanding how awful that was. I liked that Allen tried and he did his best out there, but this isn't charity for some guy that has NBA dreams. When your team is starting a nobody point guard out of the development league, you should be excited that we have so many actual NBA basketball players on the team the following season.

I'll take Ntilikina having trouble finding minutes if it's because he's battling Elfrid Payton and DSJ for minutes. That's much better than Mudiay, Burke and Kadeem freaking Allen stealing his minutes because the Knicks were trying to be some reclamation project for former promising players.

I'm all about the rebuild and I completely understand that Barrett and Knox need to be playing minutes to progress. But I rather they are learning and battling with guys like Gibson, Portis, etc. instead of Kornet or whoever else the Knicks find outside of MSG on a Sunday afternoon.

As for Anthony Davis. I'm not thinking about it. Don't you dare try to put that in our heads to worry over. You already know what's going to happen.

One of the reasons I enjoy this forum is the lack of young, delusional Knicks fans always pinning their hopes on a savior to rescue this garbage franchise. Please don't disappoint me now...aside from NLSC, there's nowhere else for me to go, lol.

Lol, I ain't trying to do that. I'm just wondering if a major part of the intent in building the team the way that it's built is to give them the opportunity to go after AD this offseason if he's available.

Not just him, but that's definitely the intention. All of these one/two year deals keeps flexibility for the end of the season or even lets us match contracts if someone asks out of their current team. Whether it plays out that way remains to be seen, but I think that's definitely in their minds.

Don't know about you Jeff, but I'm now officially a Bk Nets fan. Mind you I've been a Knick fan since Reed, DeBusschere, Bradley, Barnett and Frazier. Those were great teams. Dolan is the problem and as long as he is the owner, I can't waste another season rooting for teams that are destined to lose. Can't wait for KD to get healthy!!! Sick of watching every other team get better while the Knicks steadily move in reverse
I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

No one hates Dolan more than I do, and I've yet to see a franchise win in spite of a bad owner. But I can't drop a team I've stuck with for nearly 49 years...Knicks are in my blood (they're the only team I've ever used in Live/2k, lol).

Only time I rooted for Nets was during their ABA days when they had some cat named Julius Winfield Erving.
