For the record, I am happy to see the team playing the way they are and finally looking like we have a coaching foundation worth building on. Finding Quick where we did in the draft also gives me a little confidence that we can make something out of those picks, even if they’re a little later. It’s a good time overall, it’s just an important offseason. Should be fun.

For me it's still as much about team-building as it is winning. Winning just enough to lose in the first round of the playoffs isn't that much different than missing the playoffs.

This draft might be the last opportunity we have to grab one more foundational piece before we have to push our chips to the center of the table.

The 2022 off-season has Randle and Mitch due, plus a lot of notable names. RJ will also be eligible for an extension and we'll be pretty much locked into that team for the future.

No Elf and we score 140 followed by 110. Let's see what we post tonight.

Agreed, that's why I said a few posts back that I'd like to see a clearer long-term approach. The organization is going to be playing with fire for the next 24 months--they might put a mediocre ceiling on us for the next five years.

I do wonder what Dolan told this regime about pressure to make the playoffs.

We should take the cautious approach with Elf and hold him out as long as necessary, even until the playoffs!

Also, RJ's 3 pt % is up to 34.5% on the season. He's shooting over 40% from 3 since January.

Keith Haring inspired fan mockup, I love it.

What is his max going to be if we wait until after next year? We might be best off giving him 25 a year instead of giving him a KP deal.

Agreed, that's a pretty reasonable deal imo.

Also, Randle shared a Kobe story and what playing for the Knicks means to him in The Player's Tribune. He's been growing on me quite a bit over the past few months.

If he’s an UFA and playing even close to an All-Star level.. it’s gotta be $28M/yr & up I’d assume.

I'll be surprised if we don't throw the max at Randle, whatever that number may be.

To comp Andrew Wiggins..he makes $30M, $32M & $34M over the next 3 years. Never been an All-Star.

                            I'd offer 4/106, but I doubt he'd take it.

                            https://www.spotrac.com/research/NBA...ree-agency-878

If I'm reading this right, and can count (Julius is in his 6th year, so will be a free agent with 7 years of experience), he would be eligible for a 5 year 189 mil max if we wait. That is the number I'm afraid of.

Right, so an extra $5-$7m annually for a max for Randle. It's going to happen. This franchise is tired of being a doormat. They aren't letting a 27-year-old all-star walk. Hopefully they play it shrewd and go the RFA route.
