    Another chess move to consider.

The current NBA TV Deal is up in 24-25. We'll be coming off of all of these deals the summer of 2024, which means we should have quite a bit of space. If we sign max players that summer, those deals will look like huge bargains once the new TV deal kicks in.

Rumors are that the value of the TV deal could be triple what it currently is. The last TV deal increased the average NBA salary by almost 50%.

And do we know they didn't make an offer to Ball or was it that Ball just wanted to go to Chicago over New York? Deal was also a S&T, so we either would have had to put a monster figure on the board that NO wouldn't match, or give up players too.

True, but we have enough variety in salaries to match. Not only that, but we would have some desirable players we can put in trades rather than just offering teams cap relief.

I'm with DiehardYankee, just whelmed. I don't think we really had that many options and it seems that the FO doesn't think we'll have that many options over the next couple years either. Also not thrilled with the Noel signing. He was big for us last year but seems replaceable by someone on a shorter, cheaper deal. I too wonder about what this means for Mitchell Robinson. Seeing Jarrett Allen's contract gave me great concern.

As a longtime fan that's still dealing with his trauma, I do have to applaud the FO for what they didn't do, which is:
      • Give up young players and picks in a S&T that would only bring marginal improvement
      • Overpay for role players like Duncan Robinson
      • Spend all the cap on players that won't fit, but are the best of what's left like Lowry and Derozan.
      • Give out any 5 year contracts

We weren’t going to give up the farm to get Suggs who they tried to go after. Fine.

      Pivot.

Tre Mann could’ve been had. Sharife could’ve been had. I’d be more comfortable and optimistic with those 2 kids than our current situation at PG. I’d even be ok with Jared Butler.

Derrick Rose is no longer starting PG caliber. He is a spark off the bench that opposing teams’ 2nd units cannot match.

My point with Lonzo is that the FO knew that they weren’t going to pursue a PG in free agency. If that’s the case then use your capital to address it. They’re banking on some “star” to either not re-sign or to say I want to be traded to the Knicks. You were better off just drafting a competent guard.

This makes the Haliburton pass even worse because I was expecting them to draft a top PG this year which is I why I didn’t care that we didn’t draft him.

It makes me sick to watch guys like Shai and Trae sign these huge extensions when our Top 10 picks are playing summer league games and stinking up the Olympics for France.

I’m not pissed. I’m just taken back by their “Thibs can coach us to the playoffs” attitude. It’s not enough.

If the guys who are going to be FAs re-sign (which they are more than likely to do), this is absolutely irrelevant.

I don't believe this regime (or any) would kick the can four years down the road. They've proven that their goal is to win now. After years of being a cellar dweller we're now entering treadmill territory, my least favorite place for an NBA franchise.

It's tough when you have a fluke season led by stop-gap vets. You aren't rewarded with a high draft pick and you aren't appealing enough of a situation to attract quality free agents. It's not like we did what the Nets did in '19 with younger, attractive assets. We need RJ, Toppin, IQ to really develop and for Grimes and McBride to hit. I don't believe Mitch is ever going to make a leap, he's just who he is. Knox is a lost cause.

I don't think anyone expected us to be a 4 seed in the playoffs, we really overachieved. I figured we'd get one of the top PGs in this draft too when the season started, but wasn't banking on Julius being All-NBA and us winning 9 games in a row.

I don't see where we could have got Mann, especially if OKC was zeroed in on him. It cost Houston 2 future 1sts just to get pick 16. I'm good. He wouldn't have moved the needle either since he's not much of a floor general or defender.

Cooper would have been interesting, but he's also a 2nd round rookie who can't shoot, can't guard, and can't play without the ball in his hands. He wouldn't fit the current team and it sure seemed like a lot of teams were out on him.

Rose is a capable starter and we saw that in the playoffs. He's just not a guy we can ride for 40 minutes a night.

Supposedly all of the deals were 2 yrs with team options. Takes some of the sting away.

But still criminal that we don’t have a capable starting PG.

We weren’t beating any of the top teams in the East anyway. But next year will be ugly.

I think Quickley needs to start and we let him figure it out. His skillset compliments what we already have in the starting lineup. Thibs can get creative with the lineups and have him playing with the second unit in spurts too to recreate some of what we had last year.

I think we're destined to be fighting for one of the last couple playoff seeds.

Welp, Kemba it is. At least he's not Elfrid!

Nice to finally see a good UConn alumnus in the Garden.

As a huge UConn guy I'd like it even if we maxed him out and he had to take the court in a wheelchair but I feel like its a really good fit

Now we can keep last years bench completely together. We have enough depth at guard that Rose and Kemba shouldn't have to play huge minutes. Starting offense has a lot more scoring and playmaking. Defense will be taking a step back. I don't know if it really changes our ceiling much but its more protection against taking a step back and for the cap space we have left this is the best we could do especially without giving up assets.

The Knicks have signed Julius Randle to a four-year extension worth $117 million, a source confirmed to SNY's Ian Begley.

League sources told SNY that Randle loves the Knicks, loves the fans, and was ready to commit his prime to the team -- wanting to commit early to give the organization as much flexibility as possible.

                              And another pleasant off-season surprise.
