    Mayweather vs. Gatti: June 25

As most of you saw before the Tarver vs. Johnson bout, Mayweather and Gatti do not like each other one bit.

    Boxer vs. Brawler

Who do you have and why?

    -------------
I have Gatti by KO in the 5th.

I think Mayweather has talked too much and will inevitably be drawn into a brawl which he just cannot win IMHO. Gatti can take a punch as we've seen in his career and Mayweather seems too hyper for this fight.

Fellas, this is looking like it will be a good one. They hate each other's guts and Mayweather feels that he has something to prove in this fight. Make sure you tune in!

Re: Mayweather vs. Gatti: June 25

This is really a toss up for me...

    1. Can mayweather, moving up in weight take a solid clean punch from Arturo.
    2. Is Arturo going to try to keep with his new style and outbox floyd, or will he revert back to the Arturo of old and make it a war?
    3. How will Arturo deal with the movement and speed of mayweather. (twice as fast as Gatti has ever been in the ring with, imo)
    4. Can mayweather hurt Gatti?
    5. Will the crowd play a factor in scoring, when Arturo seems to be doing better that he really is by the reaction of the crowd.

plus im sure people can come up with many more...but to make a point. Its to hard to pick a clear cut winner with so many questionable senarios. It seems like if Gatti swarms and can land clean punches, he should be able to win the fight, and especially steal rounds with the crowd. If he stays on the outside and trys to box, Floyd will probably outclass him and pick his spots all night. We know Arturo can take a punch, but in a Floyd Mayweather fight that doesnt matter. Hes not looking to knock you out anyway (despite what he says) Floyd is a slick boxer who can move, keep distance and use his speed to land his shots and get out. If Arturo can couter effectivly and fight from the inside he has a chance.

Im rooting 100% for Arturo Gatti, and will be glued to the TV cheering for him, but if I was forced to pick a winner with my life on the line, I would go with Mayweather, for the meir fact that its hard for me to imagine him losing, since its never been done before. Kind of on the same lines as Hopkins. You just never see the guy in trouble so its hard to imagine it happening, and when it does it makes boxing that much more exciting (Ie:L Jones-Tarver 2)

Do Montreal proud Arturo!!! As Russ Amber(Canadian Boxing analyst) said on his show, Mayweather can talk all he want, but he'll never get the respect from his peers that Arturo has gotten.

I think Gatti will kncock Maywheather out, and I hope he reall does, I can't stand Flyod, and after all the stuff he was talking yesterday about Gatti, calling him a C+ fighter, I hope Gatti knocks his block off.

I want Gatti to win, but I think Mayweather will win by decision. I think Mayweather might be too fast for Gatti.

Should be a good one though.

I am a big Gatti fan and I will be pulling for him saturday, but he will be making a huge mistake if he tries to outbox Mayweather. He should take a page from Ricky Hatton's book and try to keep pressure on Floyd and rough him up.

I love Gatti, and will be rooting for him, but realistically I think Mayweather is going to school him. Mayweather is simply the better fighter, and I expect him to show it next Saturday.

A lot of people seem to forget the Arturo from before the Micky Ward trilogy. The one who got a mudhole stomped in him by De La Hoya, and looked to be on his way out of the sport until the Ward trilogy renewed his career. Wasn't Ward himself basically an older journeyman fighter when they first met anyway? Yeah, Arturo had a lot of personal stuff going on, and I am sure it affected his performances some, but it isn't like he is a totally different guy now. He has taken heavy punishment in his career, and is a much older fighter than his age suggests. At some point, he is going to look slow and overmatched, and Mayweather is the perfect opponent to expose that.

My heart is with Gatti, but my head says Mayweather all the way.

not only am i picking mayweather, but i am actually routing for him. I actually like floyd and i do think gatti is an overhyped fighter. Should be a good one though.

Gatti is going to KILL him. Mayweather's last opp. was a scrub and almost knocked him down. So this should be easy!

I like Mayweather. I admit he talks a little too much, but he does back it up. One thing that is unteachable in boxing is handspeed. Not many figthers posses it....Mayweather has it. That is going to be the difference in the fitht. A brawler punches himself out at times, and that is when a guy like Mayweather will shine.

True, but 9 times out of 10, a brawler is able to lure a boxer into a slugfest. Mayweather will get caught slipping if/when he does start to duke it out.

I think Floyd is to disciplined (spelling) for that.

I'm with Charles. If Mayweather uses his speed and takes on Gatti from the outside at angles, I don't see Arturro making this a fight. Plus, Thunder is getting old, he's had war after war even outside of his Ward trilogy. Mayweather is young, hungry and basically untouched. Skills wise, he and Zab Judah are in a class above the rest IMHO. I think Pretty Boy backs up his big mouth looking Roy Joneseque ala RJ's middle weight days. I'm looking forward to it too.

Speed Kills add great boxing skills and Mayweather should have a great performance...

Winky Wright did the same against Trinidad but this fight has much more bad blood from what I saw on Saturday
