I think we are going to be dissapointed. I dont see Floyd (with his big *** ego) being cool with his likeness. I have a strange feeling that they unlockables wont even be boxers. More like the Burger King as a boxer or like last year when the rapper Fabolous was a boxer. Let me tell you if they arent real boxers and if Mayweather is in the Xbox version (he's in the PSP version) and not in the 360 version, im gonna rip Kudo a new one in the review.

In the interview Kudo said BK didn't want the King to be a boxer and that the PSP version has more boxers and I quote

Sounds like they just wanted more $$$ (it is a business so I understand) by having fighters on cross platforms. I posted a link to the transcript of the interview in this thread to try and spark a discussion about it but I guess nobody checked it out.

Thanks man. I just read that. Still doesnt make sense to me. I'm paying 60 bucks for this game. Why should a game that is 10 bucks less have more fighters?

Probably because they are trying their damndest to milk as many buys as they can. They probably figure people who own both a 360 and an xbox/ps2/psp will be more likely to double dip on one of the other versions if they have some fighters that their primary purchase doesn't. Pretty weak, in my opinion.

I would rather EA sign a few more boxers than paying the IBF to use their name on a belt.
VB2 not only has the WBC, WBA and the IBF but also the WBO and it recognizes the rediculous 'super' champions of the WBA and WBC.

To be honest, if you dont want to buy this game because there arent ring robes, sanctioned belts and realistic entrances then you probably werent gonna buy the game anyway. I tend to cut Kudo and most developers some slack (a little bit) in the first year of new generation. They are developing a game for 5 consoles this year (PS3 included) so we can only expect that they will change or add so much in one year. Also, I like the flash KO move...its pretty realistic.
I don't care so much about the robes as much as the fact that Kudo has ignored these requests for almost three years now.
I want my sports games to be realistic even down to small details like how fighters enter the ring. The whole purpose of sports games is to give the gamer the experience of being a pro athlete. The Fight Night series so far doesn't come close.
And the fact that Kudo adds things like upgradable equipment to give your fighter a boost shows his lack of respect for the sport.
If EA added a feature in Madden where you could purchase shoes to make your RB run faster there were be massive outcry of negativity on every sports message board in the world.
All I want is a realistic portrayal of one of my favourite sports. I boxed at one time and if anyone has you realise that training is 95% of the sport. If you don't train, you don't win. And yet, this aspect is spit on by Kudo and the Gang.
But I guess I should be happy that the sluts I purchase to usher me in the ring jiggle realistically.
It's all about allocating your time and resources properly. Clearly Kudo has decided to coral those efforts to areas that hardly have anything to do with professional boxing.

This is how it was last year: Select a real life boxer or create your own. You can either start in the amatuers and fight as many amatuer fights as you want or you can turn pro. You begin ranked 50th and you can only fight boxers that are close to your ranking. You can choose a trainer and a cutman. You can choose to train by working the heavy bag, body bag or sparring depending on what area you want to improve. You also have the ability to change weight classes.

Things they have added in 2006: Calender like schedule, rivals, highlights of other fights and multiple belts in a division.

VB doesnt have real fighters so they can afford to license the sanctioning bodies. The FN budget is only so much.

I understand that but its a business. While you may hate it there are some people who like the sluts that accompany you to the ring. Also, while I dont like stuff like a mouthpiece giving you a boost in your chin, equipment does have an effect on boxers in real life. Pacman complained that he lost his first fight against Morales because he wasnt allowed to use "punchers gloves" and was forced to use the brand Morales prefers. In the second fight when he won he attributed part of the win to being able to use his gloves. With that said, those small boosts really dont have an effect on the game, so Ive never understood why people compain so much about them.

We complain about the magical equipment because like Money said, in Madden you don't buy your defensive end some Gauntlets of Ogre Power and boost his strength rating up. Oh wait, I guess in Madden they have those cheezy cards that I never buy or play, but in Fight Night, if you want red gloves, they have to be the special Mythril +3, red is magic, no way to turn it off. And that Blond Hoe, she lets me get up from 1 extra knockdown, not sure why, but she sure is perty.

My main beef in the training is that there is currently no negatives to taking a fight in 4 weeks vs having 12 weeks to train. That's just stupid. In fact, you get 3 times the amount of training by fighting 3 four week fights vs. 1 twelve week fight. Its stupid and makes no sense.

Taking a fight on 4 weeks should be risky because you can't get enough training in, not rewarding. Thye should make a deep training mode and if people want to skip it, they can just sim through it and get to the fight. Simple as that.

Thank you for that. That's what I've been asking for since the Knockout Kings series.
Hopefully Kudo will address this for next year. But I won't be holding my breath.

For the online gamers sake I hope the gameplay is solid. I don't play online or with anyone else. To me, having a weak career mode is like playing Madden with no dynasty options. You can only play one season at a time. That would get pretty old for everyone involved.
And in todays day-and-age, having a such a pathetic career mode is unacceptable. People are throwing down $500+ to buy hardware that is supposed to be super sophisticated. You're telling me that with all the resources handy you can't even add a diet in there? Especially when a game already exists with these options on a previous generations machine. Truly, truly pathetic.
I'm not even sure why Kudo asks great sites like OS to put out a 'wishlist'. He obviously doesn't listen. Many people were begging for a detailed, indepth career mode similar to what VB2 has. Or heck, at least as good as HBO Boxing from 10 years ago. Why can't this be done. And when people ask for multiple REAL belts like the WBC, WBA and the IBF he gives us the finger. What about robes, or realistic entrances sans whores? Nope! Still not going to give it to you.
But hey, you want 'Flash KO', 'Flash knockdown' or the ability to buy a super-duper mouth peice that gives your chin a +3 against crossbows, he's all over that.

I realise that I'm raining on everyone's parade so I'll stop my rant and let everyone enjoy the info coming out. I'm just angry that we're still waiting for options that have been available since the PS1.

i agree with both of you...boxers road for the ps1 was one of favorite games of all times and the career mode dusts anything that ea has offered so far.
ea needs to stop advertising FNr3 as a sim because it's far from being one, especially with the parry move.
