    Parrying

I'm not crazy about it, even if I master it. You can block and counter or sway/duck counter just fine, and there is a definite fatigue factor built into this game that makes you pay for missed or blocked punches. I don't buy that it's an antidote for haymakers-the jab, movement, and pressuring your opponent can neutralize the big punches. To me it interrupts the rhthym of a fight.

It's where you block exactly where your opponent tries to punch you. You then knock his hand away and he is open for a few free shots for a second or two. The parry time is longer if you parry a haymaker or something big as opposed to a jab.

You have 6 diferrent blocks-BODY, HEAD,[ HEAD RIGHT, HEAD LEFT, BODY RIGHT, BODY LEFT.]. The last 4 are parries. To perform a parry you go UP LEFT, UP RIGHT, DOWN LEFT, or DOWN RIGHT on you block engaged Right Stick. You are actually trying to pinpoint what side and level (UP or DOWN) your opponent's punch ends up going. The risk?-A better chance that your opponents punch will get through. The reward?-a temporary immobilization of your opponent, giving you an opportunity for a 2-4 punch combo or a haymaker counter which gives you an adrenline boost.

nice, didn't know that. That explains why some guy killed me last night. He had fought 80 fights online and was good at that. He was landing some counters that I could not defend. Very frustrating.

The parry needs to be eliminated or seriously toned down in the next version Ps3 perhaps.

I think they should just make it so that the only punches that can be
parried are haymakers/stun/flash ko/and special punches.

Guys who are real good at guessing are tough online...........If you are good at it you can stop those guys who are button mashers.

This was a request after last years game. So was adding a deep career mode. Both fell on deaf ears.

I 2nd this. If it's not in the game, don't put it in the game.

But it seems to be another feature that is used to cover up a flaw. Instead of punishing button mashers with fatigue, they add another unrealistic feature to balance things out. I'm sure it's all in the name of fun, but I hate it. It stopped me from buying the game this year.

Fatigue is a factor in this game. Button Mashers and excessive SPECIAL PUNCH users are drained, especially past the 6th or 7th round. A temporary drain also occurs when gamers expend too much energy for short bursts-their punches lose zap, clearly evident with HUD on.

Parrying does occur in real boxing, when a punch is blocked, the punchers hand is deflected to the side, thus opening him to a counter. The problem is that it is exaggerated. The biggest problem of the game, however, is that fighters don't get tired enough during a round when they throw such a high number of punches. Its really hard to keep punch counts down to realistic numbers in career mode.
