what a freakin' WAR!!! no defense, pure brawling in the final rounds.
anyways, i was thinking as i watched the rounds. the one thing that fight night rd3 did not get right (i know, i know, there is ALOT more they didn't get right) was how boxers start on the attack, go headhunting, and then tire out and cannot throw any punches and are just defending for their life or trying to clinch if they even have enough energy to do so.
in round 9 of the gatti-ward fight, just watch it on www.youtube.com. if you have never been on this site, just type in your search: arturo gatti, and it will come up as a choice.
you will see that BOTH fighters have their moments where they are letting it all hang loose and then end up tiring out and not being able to punch and just defending. anyways, in one of the rounds, the announcers said that the MOST punches in a round thrown by gatti and ward put together were 110 (ALL POWER SHOTS, just incredible!!)...
here is what i was thinking, and i wanted to see what you all thought.
i think the "realistic" way to fight on this game and on the hard level, would be to LIMIT yourself to ONLY around 60 punches MAX per round in a fight...once you reach that limit, no matter how much time it is, it's time to just lay off, defend, etc. therefore, it would almost force you to time your headhunting, use of your jab, body-shots, punches to fend off an aggressive fighter....YES, it will be a pain in the a** to do this, but it's almost the ONLY way i see that you can get realistic results...
that is just my take on how to atleast get us more variety out of this game...if anyone wants to try this and see there results, it would be great to get feedback...unfortunately for me, i didn't get to try this because i traded my copy back to ebgames and if i get some positive feedback on this, i may get it again...but i am for sure going to rent it when it is in at my local rental place...
here is what i personally plan to do...my FAVORITE FIGHTER is manny "pacman" pacquiao!!! i'm going to watch his fight with erik morales II and fight with marco antonio barrera, along with round 1 with juan manuel marquez and his round knockout with lucero...essentially his most recent fights and take down his number of body blows and head shots and how many punches he threw in each round and get an average estimate...then i will limit myself to this number of punches thrown to the head and body, to see the variety in matches...
i found that when i owned fight night rd.3 that i would focus SOLELY on the body, work my jab up top, feint and uppercut, and do that over and over again and get a knockdown by round 4 or 5 at the latest...i think with this strategy, it will make it a more thinking man's sport...yeah, it is a pain in the a** to limit yourself with the number of punches and what not, AND i still haven't figured out that if i ever reach the limit and have my opponent in a knockout moment or whatever it is called, what can be done, BUT i guess i will see when i get there....
anyways, sorry for such a long post, BUT i just am wanting an AWESOME boxing game right now after seeing one of my countrymen, MANNY PACQUIAO, kick some major a**!!!!! any feedback or thoughts would be great and CONGRATS for reading through all of this! (if you did.)
