7 Foot Valuev destroys Beck
Just finished watching the fight. Valuev dropped him in the second with a nasty right and finished him off in the third with a devastating uppercut. Valuev looked improved and his accuracy was better. He seemed much more like his old self in the aggression department which he lost a little when he stepped up to Donald and Ruiz. I think it will be interesting to see who he fights next, as it will be a sign of whether he is serious about being the best or simply just fighting random decent fighters.Tags: None -

Valuez intrigues me. I was the one who posted a topic about him a long time ago and I think you answered some questions I had about whether he was for real or just a gimmick fighting weak guys.
I think it's just the thought of watching a 7 foot 300+lb beast boxing. I still haven't seen him fight, but I'd really like to. -

You are going to have your trolls and morons who say he sucks, but they probably have never played a sport in their life and don't quite understand what size does in any sport. His sheer size makes him really difficult to beat. He will lose soon, but it won't be easy. He has a solid beard and the accumulation of punches, though not very powerful, takes its toll when it comes from a guy SHAQ'S SIZE. He keeps his balance so it is hard to get him off guard.
His biggest flaw by a mile is at times he does not fight his size. If you go back and watch Lennox and Vitali tapes, they were the masters at punking people 5 feet away. Valuev's jab is just not active enough as it should be for his size. He is getting better every fight and he has to unleash his right hand more. His right hand is actually getting to the nasty stage where it could end up being a fight ender. Beck was decent and Valuev did exactly what he was supposed to do.
After the fight, Valuev said he is ready to come to America so we will see how it goes. Once again, Valuev is not an awesome boxer or great by any means. He is just so damn big it is going to make it really difficult for him to lose. I only see Wlad and Sergei right now being able to beat him with no question. This is because both can hit and score with their jab and can move. I really think those are the two keys you must possess to beat Valuev. Rahman can't move, Toney can't do either, Peter can't box, etc.....Comment

Re: 7 Foot Valuev destroys Beck
Here is some quick film on him.
This is the Etienne fight. Not sure what your background is, but Etienne took a dive against Tyson not too long ago. He was supposed to actually be the next great heavyweight and was given a monster million dollar deal by Showtime after getting out of prison and showing some potential in a few fights. He was just convicted and will spend the rest of his life in prison. Not a good judge of Valuev, but it does give you an idea of his size.
This is a quick film showing off his beard. This is against Taras Bidenko who is actually a good heavyweight. Valuev dominated the first 10 rounds and Bidenko went off in the last two rounds but Valuev still won on the cards.Comment

Thanks for the video's.
I knew Etienne fought Tyson, but I didn't know he took a dive. Didn't see that fight.
And damn....Valuev got POUNDED by Bidenko and kept on going. He really took some good clean shots to the head. Of course his defense could use some work, but it looks like that was an old fight and he's since improved.Comment

As for Valuev, i need to see him step up his competition. Beck was totally undeserving of a title shot. The sad thing is it looks like Ruiz is in line to get a rematch against Valuev.Comment

Here is the link for the past fight against Beck. As you can see, his movement and his punch variety are improving. The right in the second was flush. You don't get a replay of the uppercut, but I can verify when I watched it live with replays that it was a great shot.
As far as Peter, I would bet on Valuev for the following reasons: Peter has no head or feet movement, he would stand in front of Valuev, he can't outscore a boxer so he has to knock them out, Valuev would score with his jab, Valuev so far would be the best chin test for Peter, and Valuev is almost a foot taller than Peter and would frustrate him which Wlad did easily. Of course, Peter could get better and improve but he has to show signs of this.Comment

Is this guy actually good, or is he some type of freak show. I say that because some people really think a Super Heavy division should be made.Comment

Really? How many times have you been hit by Mike Tyson? The last time I checked, it looks like he hits people kinda hard.Comment

I am going to side with Aholbert on this one. I am fortunate to own Tyson's career on dvd, and I just rewatched the fight (it did not take me long). Saying the punch did not hit Etienne square is the understatement of the century. Aside from the fact that Etienne has serious character issues, I think it was a definite dive after watching his reaction on the canvas. I really can't describe it to its full effect, but he laid down, looked composed, took his mouthpiece out of his mouth unlike someone who has been knocked out, and then just laid there. The combination of everything and watching it visually pretty much would lead any rational person to claim it was a dive.Comment
