Another belt, another weight division for Floyd. But will be closer than many think.

Unbelievable....Spinks? Baldomir and Margarito are waiting and he picks Spinks? Looks like PBF is just biding his time until he fights DLH.

You have got to be freaking kidding me.

Spinks is a joke. I doubt hed get passed Gatti.

This does nothing to improve Floyd's "Greatness" nor does this put any credibility onto his record.

I wonder what guys like Duran, Hearns, Leonard and Haglar think about this crap. Back in the day you WANTED to fight the best out there. Now it's about padding your stats and building a false legacy.
I'm all for these guys making as much money as possible. It's a brutal sport and you can literally be killed each time you step in the ring. But boxing is about balls and there hasn't been a lot of guys that show them.
RJJ spent the prime of his career hiding in a division filled with part time boxers and has beens. And now PBF is avoiding everyone at all costs just to keep his precious, useless belts.

I would never count out Spinks because weirder things have happened. But this should be an easy 12 rounder for Jr. After this he'll probably move up weight to fight a shot Vargas to win another belt in another weight class.

I agree... Even when Roy Jones moved up to fight at heavyweight, it was against a a clod named John Ruiz, whose style was tailor-made for a fighter like RJJ.

Nobody seems to want to get busy anymore.

Alot of you guys on here are out of control. Fighters as great as Floyd or RJJ truly are in a no win situation when it comes you guys on here. I mean, if Floyd beats Baldomir or Margarito, you'll just say they're washed up or clods or overrated, etc. I've had this discussion about RJJ plenty of times on this site. With the exception of Prince Adjamu, look at the subsequent fights of any fighter Roy has beaten and you will see that they went on to win titles or go on a winning streak immediately after, just so happens they couldn't beat Roy (no shame in that). No matter who those guys beat, just because they dominate everybody you all say they don't fight anyone. It's BS. Spinks just beat the undisputed #1 Jr. Middleweight in the world...so how is Mayweather ducking anyone? I personally think Margarito is overrated and hasn't beaten anyone to warrant a fight against Mayweather. Besides, he has his own fighters that he's "ducking"

Even though I disagree with your opinion about Margarito, lets put him aside. What's floyd's excuse for ducking Baldomir? Baldomir is the recognized welterweight champ coming off of 2 wins and Floyd will make more money fighting him or Margarito than he will Spinks.

As for Spinks w/ the exception of Mayorga (who is overrated imo) he barely won his two biggest victories (two controversial decisions against Judah and Karmazin). PBF is clearly just trying to take the easiest opponents while he waits for DLH.

If Floyd is really determined to fight De La Hoya at 154 lbs then at least this fight kind of makes sense. It will give Floyd a fight at 154 lbs to get adjusted to the weight, and it will be against a champion that only recently moved up to junior middle himself. Still not really the fight I would like him to take though.

I feel you on that, but Oscar is who he wants and it might be at 154. Also, who's to say that Baldomir is the best fight? That is actually the easier fight for him in my opinion because he would beat Baldomir to every punch and people will say he took an easy fight against a journeyman. You can't be serious saying Mayweather is ducking Baldomir...

It's hilarious to hear people talking about PBF "ducking" guys like Baldomir and Margarito, etc. when none of us have NO idea what goes on behind the scenes and how all the matchups and negotiations boil down. Did it ever occur to some of you that maybe just maybe guys like that don't want to fight Floyd and are ducking him? Why is it always that he's the one ducking fighters?

Besides, the man has nothing to prove...he shouldn't have to go looking for fights. If they want to fight him so bad, THEY should have to come to HIM, not the other way around. Do you really think he's afraid to fight guys like Baldomir or Hatton or Margarito??? Pffft come on now...if the situation is right, he'll fight whoever makes the most sense and do what he always does and that's win.

As far as I'm concerned, Floyd has earned the right to choose who he fights and when he fights.

Spinks was a legimate champ at 147 and 154. You all are writing Spinks off as a joke. He has beaten Mayorga, Judah, and Karmazin. All those were legitimate fights. Much more than I can say for Margarito and Baldomir. IMO it was only between Spinks and Baldomir after Mosley said he was done until 2007. Spinks is more recognizeable and better pure boxer than Margartio or Baldomir. Since his plan is to fight at 154 next year any way, why not get a fight with the champ at 154?

We will find out what Margarito is made of now. Its apparent he WONT fight Floyd. Now he has Ouma, Smith, Rivera, Wright, and Clottey. Even throw in Paul Williams if he wins next week. For all the Margarito supporters will you diss him if he doesnt fight a named fighter?

Yeah, I'm sure that Badlomir doesn't want to fight PBF. Trust me, 99% of the fighters out there will fight the pound-for-pound champ when given the chance. How would it help a contenders career by not fighting the champ?

And regarding RJJ, didn't he fight a garbage man from Australia?
