He is clearly trying to keep his record unblemished until he gets the DLH fight and thats why he's fighting Spinks, a guy with a suspect chin and who has no shot at knocking him out. Its probably good business sense but he's still a coward in my book.

Originally posted by ComplexSpinks was a legimate champ at 147 and 154. You all are writing Spinks off as a joke. He has beaten Mayorga, Judah, and Karmazin. All those were legitimate fights. Much more than I can say for Margarito and Baldomir. IMO it was only between Spinks and Baldomir after Mosley said he was done until 2007. Spinks is more recognizeable and better pure boxer than Margartio or Baldomir. Since his plan is to fight at 154 next year any way, why not get a fight with the champ at 154?
We will find out what Margarito is made of now. Its apparent he WONT fight Floyd. Now he has Ouma, Smith, Rivera, Wright, and Clottey. Even throw in Paul Williams if he wins next week. For all the Margarito supporters will you diss him if he doesnt fight a named fighter?Comment

Originally posted by aholbert32I dont but the boxing press does know whats going on behind the scene. They have reported that PBF was offered 8 mil to fight Margarito and 6 plus more from PPV revenues to fight Baldomir. Those would be the highest paydays he's ever recieved by far. Both have stated openly that they want to fight PBF also. They arent ducking PBF.

Spinks isn't a walk over. Baldomir beat Judah (who hasn't lately), and Gotti who really should retire. PBF is the champ and deserves to pick and chose his fights. The Spinks fight will sell much more than Baldomir or Gotti. The Sports Preacher

Evander Holyfield didn't duck anyone! And people respected him for it. Same with Ali, Hagler, Hearns, etc. These guys were MEN that wanted to fight the best to prove they were the best.
I think PBF knows that he's good but not as good as his hype. And he knows that guys like Baldomir are 'hard' fighters that don't back down or take a backward step - dangerous fighters.
He'd rather fight a dancer with no power and a suspect chin to help pad his stats. Disgusting.Comment

Originally posted by aholbert32Wrong. PBF isnt the recognized champ. Baldomir is. He's the linear welterweight champ. He's the Ring Mag champ. He's the guy that the boxing press and boxing fans recognize as the welterweight champ.Comment

Mayweather is scheduled to fight De la Hoya next year, how is getting a tuneup from a champion ducking anyboby? He's not on the same level as Mayweather, period.Comment

Might need to go back and do some research. Tyson paid Lennox millions to step aside and also went after Seldon to avoid Lennox. There is not one educated boxing fan on the planet that believes Lennox ducked Tyson. In fact, because of the corruption of boxing post-Ali, Lennox was the most ducked fighter in heavyweight boxing.Comment

No one on this board had given me one good debate for Floyd to fight Margarito. Margarito has barely any named opponents on his record. On top of that his top named opponents wouldnt beat Floyd's average opponents. As much as you say you like Margarito, he has done nothing in boxing in the name of beating top opposition.
Some argue that Floyd is taking safe opposition and thats not true. Its just that Floyd is that good. Its the same way I feel about RJJ. For years, no one went the distance with him. RJJ was that good. Floyd is that good.
If Floyd fought Margarito and beat him to a pulp or dominated a UD, you all would find some other exscuse for him not to be on top.Follow me on Twitter - http://twitter.com/complex219Comment

I totally understand what you are saying. And being that I follow boxing, I think anyone who clamours for Margarito is following groupthink. There was one fight and one fight only for PBF to take and declined. He has not earned the right to choose, as his last two fights were "chosen" fights.Comment

Why I don't like Roy? Because he avoided Dariusz Michalczewski and for one reason or another, did not grant rematches to JT and B-Hop. Why I really don't like him? Because he talked a lot of noise about heavyweights, came to the division, fought the only guy he knew he could beat because he was tailor made for him, and then left.Comment
