Re: Check out this sneak preview from Sports Illustrated on Prizefighter.

I really really really really hope there are real unification bouts in this game. And I want the AI to realistically beat my *** if it has to in these title bouts. I wanna feel badass but I don't want it to be a breeze.

On a side note, fight night straight up blatantly lied to us about unification bouts ... what am i talking about that career mode was straight trash laughable garbage. enough about that crap game.

Real videos in career mode I don't like that it's like the live sports ticker in sports games it doesn't fit. I hope they add good AI that fight in different ways instead of the rock'em sock'em robots way that Fight night had but till I see some gameplay and features my excitement will be low.

        You interpeted right. I agree.

Amen to that. The parry system is ridiculous. They need to look at the parry system of knockout kings 2001 (ps2), it was more suttle and realistic. Hopefully no super KO punches either. Hopefully like Victorious Boxers 1 (ps2), the angles the punches are thrown count as something. I am excited as heck for this game.

I haven't been this excited over a boxing game since Intellivision Boxing-hope this one is better.

I've been waiting a while for a very realistic boxing game. Last thought, I've also been waiting a while for boxing games to incorporate different governing bodies and allow for real unification bouts, not that BS unification of two and three weight classes.

I've always had a problem with this. Usually in boxing game the hierarchy of punches are as follows from weakest to strongest: (right handed boxer)

                  1. jab
                  2. straight/cross ***
                  3. L.hook
                  4. R.hook
                  5. L.uppercut
                  6. R.uppercut

----to me that sucks. Some right-handed boxers best punch is left hooks and they tally their knockout count w/ them. I would also say that a right cross will normally be stronger than a right uppercut. Some pros can't even through an effective uppercut (and certainly can't knock anyone out w/ them).
All boxers should vary on their punch power (including the jab - it doesn't have to be a useless tap that gains points for every 10 landed lol)
maybe boxing games should have a flurry system that juices the next 8 punches or so since most punches are not thrown 100% power in a fight unless you're carlos myorga or katsidis lol.

Anyway boxing games need major changes to the 'formula', in fact it should be hard to hit the other guy!

Great point-one of the major problems with boxing games is the unrealistic # of body punches thrown and landed versus real life. CompuBox doesn't even have stats for body punches. In real life blocking to the body is less a concern than in a video game. Because of the necessity of "blocking up, and blocking down" in video boxing the % of punches landed will be higher than in real life.

way too high...plus you can only clinch 2 or 3 times a round in fight night before you're docked a point!....and the clinches are terrible on top of that w/ barely any interaction. It's comical to see the hands going up and down like a guessing game in FN

One thing I kinda expect from 2K in this game is great controls. Every sports title 2K makes has great feel to it from APF to NBA2K series, they all have a way to make you feel in control of the person your controlling...And in this title I expect the same....The Parry system in the FN3 didn't feel like real boxing.Another thing is that I hope 2K compliment the great play-by-play commentary of Jim Lampley and Emanuel Stewart with "Big Fight" atmosphere..for example we can all atest to the feeling of Lampley shouts "big right hand from De La Hoya"....when Lampley gets amped I hope the crowd gets amped from the action in the rings, and what I mean by that is fans start the fight in there seats, but when a fighter lands a big punch that rattles his opponent or both fighters exchange blows towards the end of ther round, the crowd gets loud and stands on there feet until the round ends and Lampley is ranting and raving and the fighting atmosphere is electric, and when the next round begins the crowd is still on there feet....just capture the whole atmosphere of boxing, not just in the ring, accompanied with good gameplay.....Skies the limit for this Franchise.......

Everything sounds great but I'm still skeptical. I have this bad feeling that the game will be average and we'll be told, "Contrary to what many have said, 2K only started working on this in the last year."

people need to be careful throwing "2k" around, it's being developed by the Rocky Legends gang.

It's got the 2K Sports brand on it. My point is this very thing happened with APF 2K8. There were expectations, thinking it was in development since the end of 2K5. Expectations were grand it the game ended up being a polished 2K5 without the NFL.

I'm not getting hopes up either, but I actually would have them up if Visual Concepts was making the game. They are the heart and sould of 2ksports, and anything they do just has that magic 'flow' to it. I really hope people at 2k are watching development closely and completely shutting things down that are awkward right away. I hope that the fact '2k' is on the label will encourage a development towards realism.
