    4 Great Fights Tonight!!!

In a rarity, Showtime and HBO are going head to head with 2 awesome doubleheaders that will help clean up two divisions.

    On HBO:

Cintron-Margarito= I am an unabashed Manny fan. The conventional wisdom is Margarito pressures Cintron and gets a knockout or easy points decision. But, Cintron was outboxing him the first fight, was coming off a 9 month layoff from a hand injury, and was facing his best competition. So, I am going with the minority and I think Cintron elevates himself to star status behind a jab heavy gameplan from Manny and wins a UD.

Cotto-Gomez= I love Cotto. But in the fights he has struggled, Gomez fits that mold perfectly but he is bigger and tougher. So I think Cotto wins in a much harder bout than expected by UD. And you will hear nonsense that Cotto is overrated. It will be tough, so interested to see if Cotto can catch Gomez flush.

    On Sho:

Dawson-Johnson= I love Dawson. I want to say he will KTFO Johnson, but the Road Warrior is solid and awkward. Dawson by UD but like Cotto, it will be a little ugly and people will spout nonsense that he is overrated not giving Johnson enough credit. But if Dawson knocks him out, hello superstar status.

Woods-Tarver= Conventional wisdom says Tarver combined with weight issues and advancing age will never allow him to be the same. Add to the fact that Tarver is dawging Woods like he is a bum, so, I am going with the minority that Woods wins a ugly, digusting, extremely boring SD.

My DVR will be working OverTime. Cotto destroys Gomez.

Don't forget to extend recording or stay up later for Countdown To Calzage/Hopkins on HBO after the fights!

See are probably right, as Gomez is getting overrated for destroying a shot Gatti...but I have seen Cotto struggle enough and I think Gomez has the traits that bother Cotto. So I am going with my original prediction, but yours is more likely.

Dawson made that fight way too difficult than it should have been as he went and stayed on the inside way too much against a great inside fighter. But in his defense, he would have had a knockout if it weren't for Johnson's chin.

Johnson deserves a rematch. He lost imo but it wasnt an 8-4 victory.

WOW, that Dawson/Johnson was much closer than what the judges had IMO. I actually had Johnson winning 115-113

Margarito is just wearing down Cintron. Dude is relentless. The body shots are taking a toll.

And a shot to the liver ends it. Almost the same punch Hatton used to beat Castillo in his final fight before Mayweather.

Margarito is tough. I just don't think Cintron has the same heart or toughness. He was just too distracted out there.

Plus it's pretty telling when after Cintron was cut in the fifth round that his corner asked him if he wanted to continue. Hell, Katsidis was cut WAY worse than that against Amonsot and Casamayor, and his corner never asked him if he wanted to continue. They knew the kid would keep going until he was dropped -- that's heart.

                    Take care,

Cintron has peaked. My favorite stat in boxing is how someone reacts in the rematch. It is what separates guys like Lewis from Holmes, etc...

Cintron just flat out got owned. Trading with an iron chinned fighter...genius!

Cintron has little to no heart. He did nothing in the fight with Margarito to prove anything otherwise.

Cotto gets no props for beating a contender guy who's best win on his record is a washed up Gatti.

                          Johnson was robbest vs Dawson.

Cotto is just in a different league. He's hurting Gomez something fierce, breaking him down piece by piece.

Cotto still is the second best thing in the 147 division. Unfortunately he still several levels below Floyd
