I believe there's too many weight classes and in some cases the weight limit for some of them are so outdated.
With today's evolving human body and advancement in science when it comes to physical fitness, it's probably not too healthy for some of these guys to make 160 in some circumstances.

Both Pavlik and Abraham have had to fight at catch weights recently. And even Pavlik, who made 160 for his bout against Lockett blew up to 170 for the day of the fight.

If the Middleweight class were to get changed to 165 it might make a difference.
But I'm sure I'm in the minority when it comes to that kind of talk as it would seriously screw-up any kind of linear balance when comparing new fighters to old.

Eventually Pavlik and Abraham will move up to 175. That would be great as the LHW division would be awesome. But I just hope all these fighters moving up to that class can continue to carry their power with them.
Pavlik and Abraham are awesome to watch at 160 in that regard.

P.S. I really enjoyed the Alonzo Butler fight. He deserved the "L" but showed a lot of courage to get to the 10th.
And the Burnett fight was entertaining too. Poor giant had to beat the final bell to earn the "W". If that fight was 10 seconds longer he would have been KO'd for sure.
As far as weight goes, I would love to see a cap on the HW division and maybe a super-heavyweight division. Some of the guys that have some in the ring look like they have not been near a gym in years.

In reference to guys moving up in weight I am watching to see what Taylor does. 160 is a done deal for him and 168 may offer some good fights.

      That's true.

But it seems that everyone is jumping right past 168 these days.

If Pavlik and Abraham do move up to 175, I'd love to see a unification tourny:

Jones, Graham, Hopkins, Calzaghe, Pavlik, Abraham, Johnson, Tarver, (possibly Lacy and Taylor). Unbelievable.

Well 168 has been dead for years. Just in the last few years have things gotten exciting.

But as far as your 175 list, I would love to see someof those matches. Can you imagine what Tarver vs Pavlik would look like?

I would prefer they have about 6 weight classes
            1. Feather up to 125
            2. Lightweight up to 140
            3. Welterweight up to 160
            4. Middleweight up to 180
            5. LightHeavy up to 200
            6. Heavyweight

And on top of that, I say you weigh in 6 hours before the fight. This way you don't have guys purging themselves and blowing up the day of the fight. This way you won't have light heavies dropping a ton of water weight and purging themselves to fight all the way down to welter, etc.

              No doubt!

              Same with a Pacquaio-Hatton fight.

              Take care,
