Who do you want to see Pavlik fight next?

I would like to see Pavlik take on Abraham next. After Abraham's impressive performance against Miranda, I think Pavlik vs. Abraham would be the right way to go for both.

Calzaghe, bigger money fight, more exciting fight, and I think Calzaghe is better than Abraham.

Calzaghe. It's a better fight for the sport of boxing because no one outside of fight fans knows who the hell Abraham is. Calzaghe isn't a household name, but he's much more well known than Abraham.

That's a good point. But a Pavlik-Abraham bout would almost guarantee far more excitement. Both guys love to bang.
And I think Pavlik's name would carry the fight in the US.

I'd like to know who outside of a fight fan is going to shell out $50 to watch a prizefight. All due respect PK, I've never understood that argument. Calzage, Abraham, AND Pavlik are not household names, but I think Pavlik-Abraham is a better sell to fight fans.

Here's how it works around here: Me or my brother will get the fight live if we can get guys to come over and turn it into a boxing party. Otherwise, we grab it online later that night or the next day, or watch it live on the PC through Sopcast.

Our buddies, who aren't huge boxing fans, know Joe Calzaghe. They don't know Arthur Abraham. The party would take place, and we would pay 50 bones, for Pavlik-Calzaghe. It wouldn't happen for Pavlik-Abraham, because our non-boxing freak buds have no idea who Abraham is.

I disagree on both counts.

First, Calzaghe has a tremendous work rate, just like Abraham.

Second, Pavlik only has become a "big name" in boxing the last year since the two Taylor fights, a guy known to people who don't know the sport avidly. You can make the same argument about Calzaghe. His fight against Hopkins put him on the map in the States.

Arthur Abraham, as good as he is, still isn't on the map in the States. Pavlik-Calzaghe would be a bigger draw in America and would still be a big, big bout in Europe due to Calzaghe's following there.

Abraham doesn't speak English -- how will he be an easier fighter to sell to American fans than Calzaghe?

Every press conference, every promotion will require cumbersome interpretation of Abraham's words. Dude can't do a sit-down interview on ESPN, can't be a studio guest on "Friday Night Fights" on ESPN2, can't really be the star of a "24-7" reality show on HBO if he doesn't speak a word of English.

Take it from someone who works in sports PR: That's a roadblock to promotion in the U.S.

It would be one thing if Abraham's mother tongue was Spanish, as there are millions of Hispanic-speaking fight fans in the U.S. But somehow I don't see the German-speaking U.S. population causing the PPV cash registers to sing.

My buddies will watch a fight if I hype it up and explain some history "this dude, everyone thought would lose, and ko'd the champ for the belt after almost being ko'd earlier" "the other dude won a fight with a broken jaw" etc.
And on TV, they could make it 'good vs. evil' ...make abraham look like a terrorist lol, and pavlik look like a freedom fighter. jk.

whatever the case may be.... the point is I would RATHER watch abraham vs. pavlik, and other boxing fans might too regardless of what's better for the media or makes more PPV money. As the thread titles asks, i want Pavlik to KO Abraham especially since abraham fans, especially german ones try to make him sound like the greatest of all time, and that's he'll kill pavlik...just look at youtube comments- it's a joke how they call pavlik names and think he's a wuss.

Let us shut them up for good!

Out of the 3 mentioned, Calzaghe would be last on my list because at least with Kessler, I think either guy could KO the other one.

I wouldn't mind seeing Abraham fight Pavlik, as I think Abraham is pretty solid defensively, and he counters well. But his work rate wasn't that impressive against Miranda, probably because his camp wisely knew the rope-a-dope would work well against Miranda, who punched himself out.

What surprised me about Miranda in that fight last weekend is how he continually tried to get through Abraham's strong peek-a-boo defense up high even when it clearly wasn't working. He didn't adapt in the ring, and his corner didn't alter their tactics.

I don't know if that's arrogance or stupidity, but it ended up with Miranda on his azz early.

The reason I would like to see Calzaghe fight Abraham is because I think Joe C. is a better fighter than Abraham and a better match for Pavlik. Plus Joe C. is near the end of his career, so I would like to see him get another big payday and super fight that he deserves.

Abraham will get his chances if he continues to fight as he did Saturday against Miranda.
