I never played it on the PSP, sounds deep too. I hope you are picked to go to the EA Community Event, so we can talk to the producers and work together on the next wishlist together.

Evander Holyfield boxing was way ahead of it's time.
It had dynamic rankings and you could even have two careers going at once.

Evander was the champ and wouldn't fight any of the CPU fighters until you had a shot at the belt. Once you did, he was fair game for everyone.

The one bad thing was you had a maximum of 40 fights in you. But you aged so by the time you got to 40 you were at half power on almost all your attributes. It made it extremely tough to stay the champ. I would say your peak was probably 28 fights.

Saying that, once you beat Evander he went downhill fast. Within a matter of 4-6 fights, he would almost certainly drop out of the top 10.

The best I did was finish 39-1. I was undefeated until my 39th fight when I got stopped by a monster. I had never even been knocked down but that beast floored me 3 times before I got KO'd in the 5th. I took one more fight knocking out some bum and then retired with a boat load of cash.

It still amazes me that not North American developer has been able to surpass the career mode of a 16-bit console. FN 2004 was probably on par with it. But here we are in 2009 and we're praying that FNrd4 can exceed it.

Complex, I heard that in the PSP version of VB you can actually get your jaw broken.
I'm tempted to buy a PSP just for that friggin game!

I got my copy on Amazon a couple of years ago. But yes you could get your jaw broken. Injuries would affect your training, meaning you could not train or take fights until that injury healed. What is cool is early on your power is weak and u are subject to getting KOd, slow etc. As a weak ameatur, getting KOs is unlikely but not impossible But you will be sticking and moving early on lol.

Create a player in this game in that you pick your country, your height, weight etc affect your weight class you start at. You can mold heads, increase reach etc.

Now the training isnt performed by you ,you schedule events and diet. Too much training has a negative effect, the wrong diet too. My only gripe is that sparring has no effect on training, something I have complained about all boxing games.

In the Japanese version of VB2 a great majority of it was in Japanese.
Is this PSP version in english?

I thought I read that sparring can have somewhat of an affect in VB2. If you wore heavier gloves you'd gain more speed for the fight. Or if all you did was throw left-hooks it would be more effective as well come fight time.

Wow. that sounds realistic... I used to spar in 24.oz gloves for speed when i was boxing and working a certain punches does help you be more effective in a fight.

Ehhhh, If I recall correctly, I think sparring with heavier gloves in VB2 does effect your speed, I'll try it out later on and give you a definite answer if complex doesnt respond before I get to it.

As for the first part of your post, its not just the majority of the game being in japanese, its ALL japanese. I'm currently stationed in japan and as soon as I heard about VB2 I was in the local japanese game store buying a japanese PS2 and searching through the stores library of games (and it is a vast library let me tell ya, lol) until I found VB2 (not knowing a lick of how to speak or read japanese mind you, lol). I was fiendin to try it out, and with perserverance, I finally found it on the shelf in the corner, lol.

The diet part is pretty deep. That and the fact that I cant read what I'm actually doing, I just let the A.I. make my meals for me(It aint really the highlight of my girls day to sit there and translate what my coach is telling me, lol) I'm not really a fan of the actual gameplay but it aint that bad, just the way the boxers move is kind of quirky to me. Overall though, it is the best boxing game hands down.

I am speaking on Boxers Road 2 The real.

Since then, they have released Victorious Boxers Portable: Victorious Spirits for the PSP. I may try to purchase soon.

Re: I have to ask this question once again.....

Allright, I just got my copies of 2004 and Rnd2 in the mail. Unfortunately, even though it states that it is backwards compatible, Rnd2 aint working, It just freezes on the opening load screen. 2004 on the other hand works fine and let me say I haven't played Rnd3 in a couple of days. 2004 is more fluid and moves alot faster than Rnd3, it seems to play a bit more "dynamic" I guess you could say, I love the knockdowns, the parry is in the game but oh well.

So I'll go with VB2, FN 2004, and FN Rnd3 placing last place. I wish I could get Rnd2 to work though

Oh, yea, and I'm liking the training mini games in 2004 better than Rnd3 also. Mainly the training mitts.
