Williams facing Wright on April 11
Paul Williams' promoter, Dan Goossen, loves to talk about how his fighter is the most avoided man in boxing, a position that was occupied by Winky Wright for years.Follow me on Twitter - http://twitter.com/complex219Tags: None -
Re: Williams facing Wright on April 11
Winky will dictate the fight. There is a pattern forming from Hopkins and Mosely. These veterans are taking on the younger fighters with KO power. While it would appear the younger guys would punish the old men, they have to much experience and control the pace of these fights and go on to easy victory.
I'm taking Winky.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: Williams facing Wright on April 11
Paul Williams doesn't fight tall and this is going to hurt him against Winky. He can't get away with that inside fighting with his height with Winky. The only thing that may make Winky lose this is ring rust.Poe is an advocate for realistic boxing videogames.Comment

I think ring rust and Paul's activity will win him a close decision. Just like others most of Pauls punches will hit the gloves, but will win rounds by punches thrown.Comment

Re: Williams facing Wright on April 11
Winky is an experienced boxer, not a tremendous amount of power but with him being a lefty it takes an advantage away that Paul normally enjoys. Paul also throws straight up the middle most times and thats the wrong thing to do against Winky b/c all you get is glove with that Turtle Defense of his. You have to throw hooks. Winky also backs you down and inches forward snuffing many punches not allowing a full extension.
If Paul fights smart, which is not his calling card he can pull this off with foot movement and a consistent jab. Paul will throw punches but he has not been really tested at this higher weight IMO. He beats Wright, this kid gets P4P consideration.Follow me on Twitter - http://twitter.com/complex219Comment

I just hope that Winky doesn't start whining if he gets beat.Comment

Re: Williams facing Wright on April 11
Winky has not been KOd in a fight and he has faced some hard punchers (Mosley, Hopkins, Taylor) so any chance of a KO by Williams is out.
Williams has not faced a REAL Lt Middleweight or Middleweight ever.Follow me on Twitter - http://twitter.com/complex219Comment

I know he will. It just gets old listening to his "We was robbed"routine everytime he loses.Comment

Re: Williams facing Wright on April 11
Very, very hard to decide this one cuz Winky is a tough cookie to crumble
Winky
- Since his 2 years absence he has gotten up to about 190 lbs, lot of weight lost to get to 160 saps the body.
- Hasn't had a fight in 2 years
- Age 37 I think
- Foot work is bad now
- No power
+ Experience
+ Excellent defense, one off the best
+ Nice jab, he keeps it coming
Paul Williams
- No defense, his offense is his defense
- Doesn't fight like he is 6'2
+ Decent power, he'll knock you out if he lands to many
+ Good stamina, can go the distance
+ Nice chin
This fight is going the distance, Winky defense is too good, so it's going to be hard for Paul to get through his shell defense, Winky only has a jab.
I'm on the fence but I'm going with Paul by decisionComment
