This is encouraging. Although I think PF blew away all FN's in respect to sim (any game that discourages straight button mashing and more strategy is alright in my book. I can overlook other shortcomings although they may iritate me to no end). I think your opinion is probably as close to the truth as I'm going to get. So I'm really optimistic about this game.

EDIT: Just checked a few of your past posts Money and it seems like "you get it". Like a money investor I had to "check you out" before I invest with you. lol. But , barring some damaging news coming out this will be a day one purchase for me.

I enjoyed aspects of PF too. I didn't think the game was complete horsepoop either.

But after playing FN Rd4, I can say (and quite easily) it's the best playing boxing game I've had my hands on.
What's scary is that it was still an early build. I can only imagine how much they're going to clean up or smooth out over the next 3 months.

Regarding the Legacy Mode, I didn't really get any hands-on time with it. But I was able to get a lot of detail from an awesome 40-minute pow-wow with most of the development team. They want this mode to be very solid themselves. And the direction they want to drive this feature is an exciting one.

I don't think I'm violating the NDA when I say that there is far more strategy in this game than any other boxing game I've played.

During our hands-on experience, I routinely got my arse handed to me when I fought one-dimensional. I can thank Wepeeler for that lesson. lol.

I just had my last day at work as I am relocating soon, so now I can finally type in depth.

I will try to say what I can without saying what I can't. I love boxing and when I say boxing, I mean boxing (not two dudes trying to knock each other's head off). What moves do you think of when in the ring? While I can not say exactly, a lot of what you thought just now IS in the game. As we tested the game and made some suggestions the producers were on hand, went into debug mode and made adjustments on the fly. Now that really blew my mind. That should give you a flavor for the type of guys we were dealing with. They did not try to convince us that they had it perfect and were not open to feedback, rather they listened to us and the community at large and included many things 'we' asked for in the build. What really had me stoked is that this is just the 'alpha' build, so things are only going to get better.

I keep hearing say guys go to basketball or football because boxing is 1000x's harder, and you guys were so sore. I understand your soreness, I mean if your not the type of person that regular visits the gyms and go one day and lift weights real hard, do crunches, triangle push ups, you will be sore for days maybe even a whole entire week. I live here in Kansas City, MO where we have a few casinos and we've even hosted a few Friday Night Fights on ESPN. My buddy that boxes took be to the gym, so I can see what goes on and I did a few things like myself, but even before I went out there I go to a gym to work out (like a 24 fitness) I've been in the gym straight for 2 years. I go 4 to 5 days a week, but me and a couple of other cats were at the boxing gym and these 2 guys that were my boxing friend friends were sore for a whole week, because they weren't in the gym regularly. I myself was just barely a little sore the next day, with the exception of the medicine ball to the stomach which was sore about 3 days. All I'm say is any part of you body that you don't push to the limit and don't do it on the regular and then get out there and do so, you will be sore and tender

I just said your training your body a certain way, working a specific muscle(s) and I'm not talking about light workouts. I worked everyday for 12 years in the gym. I used to train 3 hours a day, boxing was my love. I saw all types come in the gym and get broken down; marathon runner,weight lifers, marines etc; it's just a different workout all together. I was really hurt after working out after years out the gym.

I feel you shakyr, I didn't want to make a big deal or rub people the wrong way by saying stating what I felt. I realize in boxing you really have to training your whole body and really, really, really be conditioned, because fatigue will definitely sap your energy.

No, what you DID say was that you weren't sore at all after training for a day. And the reason for that was because you lift weights while you're friends don't.

Yes, my body probably did recover from the workout quicker than maybe someone who doesn't work out on a regular basis. But I didn't jump on these boards and make sure that everyone on OS knew how awesome I was because I might not have been as sore as someone else who attended.

To me, your post dripped of arrogance. Sorry if I misinterpreted it that way.

Also, while some people complained of soreness after the fact, it's the workout itself that is grueling. Like Shakyr noted, you can be a marathon runner and be out of breath after 2 rounds on the heavy bag.
That's why I compared boxing to football or other sports. You can take a triathelete, Ladanian Tomlinson or Kobe Bryant and all three of them would be gasping for air after 3 rounds of working the mitts.
From my experience, a boxer's training regimen destroys any other athletes. That's not meant to be an insult to other sports, but it's the truth.

I wouldn't say that money. It's more of the fact that when you "cross train" you enter areas that your body isn't familiar with. It's all about routine. Take a boxer and let him train with Lance Armstrong for a day, dude will be out of commission. His muscle memory doesn't know anything about that type of workout and would need to build up for it.

Lets see, a fight between a boxer and a sprinter who would win? Well if the sprinter smacks the boxer across the face and takes off and the boxer chases him till he's outta gas then the sprinter and turn around and kick some tail. lol I'm being funny but I actually seen something like this happen when I was a kid.

There's being in shape, then there's being in BOXING shape.

Also add the fact that boxers are usually severely dehydrated and not eating to make weight, and their daily workout routine also consists of getting punched in the face for a few hours, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a tougher overall workout for athletes.

for sure, I know guys at work that run 10k and marathons regularly - and they get gassed just coming to the piddly little class I run at work, which is only about %65 the intensity of Dave Brett being his masochistic self.
