    Marquez vs. Diaz

WOW!!! I can't believe there wasn't a thread for this fight.

I'm calling it right now....FIGHT OF THE YEAR!!!

Since the start of the fight, these two fighters went at each other and neither let down. Diaz took an early lead in the rounds and was packing his punches and it showed with Marquez bleeding, but Marquez came back in the mid rounds with body shots and took it to Diaz. This was a such a great fight to watch.

masterful finish. I hope pac fights pbf though and marquez gets him after or fights someone else.

I also hope diaz dusts himself off and comes back a better fighter

Great fight but you could see the outcome coming. I knew it was a matter of time before someone KOd Diaz. He stands too square, never moves his head. He just absorbs punches. When he got in trouble he let his pride take over. Should have been holding to regain balance.

Marquez was get overwhelmed early but you could see him landing good shots. On the first Diaz knockdown, all three of those punches in that combo landed. It was amazing.

Diaz won't make it with his cornermen.

I can't stand his head down, close my eyes while you hit me "defense" that he fights with.

He has all the tools, just needs to be refined by a good trainer...and a muuuuch better cutman.

Once Diaz gets cut, it's all mental with him.

Lampley must be out his mind with the PFP talk about Marquez. It's like after every fight, HBO has a quota on how many times they must mention PFP.

                  Re: Marquez vs. Diaz

When is Marquez going to get some recognition for P4P?
He's the only man to have stopped Joel Casamayor and now he KO's Juan Diaz.

If you look at his Losses, you could make a very strong argument that he should be undefeated. His losses to Chris John and Manny P. are disputable.

I'd love to see a rematch between Marquez and Pac at 140.

                    co-sign...

and the one thing that amazed me about that fight is that i can only remember the ref stepping in possibly once or twice to break them up...just an amazingly good fight that was a joy to watch.

???? What do you mean recognition? He's the #2 P4P behind Pac Man. They mentioned it over and over again. Should they sent him a gourmet box of cookies? What do you mean by recognition besides saying he's #2?

I have a feeling you'll see Mayweather step into the scene, fight him at 140 or higher and systematically destroy him in a big payday.

Some argue that the second Pacman fight was all Pac but the judging was a SD i think. He plans to move up to 140 so let's see who he takes on. Would love to see him take on Torrest, Holt, Urango or even Nate while they wait on Hatton and Pac to take care of their business.

I guess I should have worded it differently. It seems that all you hear about nowadays is Pacman, Hatton, PBF, Margarito, etc. I'd like Marquez to get more national exposure. He's a very entertaining fighter and has the rare ability to KO dudes at the highest level.

Who are you crazy Canadians listening to?

Hatton? He's got power but I've never heard of him mentioned as P4P. He fights like a heavyweight but is in the WW division so he's rubbed people the wrong way.
PBF? Can't stand the guy or his style but he's the Best P4P boxer period. But he's retired so.....
Margarito? I can barely say his name without shaking my head, chuckling, and thinking of the bugs bunny cartoon where he pulled a horseshoe out of his glove.

I mean Marquez is an HBO boxer and all the announcers gush over him. Repeatedly pointing out his strengths and claiming P4P #2. I don't know how else you'd get more exposure than that.

But check out maxboxing.com, ESPN, eastsideboxing.com. There's very little mention of Marquez except when he's about to fight. Most of the pub goes to other more 'glitzy' fighters.
I don't have the money for PPV and I don't get HBO. So most of my boxing information comes from those websites. I don't think he gets as much pub as he deserves in that regard.
