    R.C.U.S. @ E3: " I Fought Brian "Brizzo" Hayes

First off, ALL the praise in this impression goes to R.C.U.S. over @ IGN. This dude fought Brian "Brizzo" Hayes and...well...here's what happened:

    "I lost, twice!

Sorry in advance for lack of specific info, but the IGN boards keep dropping out and I just wrote like a page about my day today at E3, and the page crashed. trying to be brief...

first off, Brian Hayes is class act. seriously that guy ROCKS, and him and his team have done a PHENOMENAL job with this game.

as for our fights....we had two all-out WARS. One fight went 8 rounds and ended with a spent mike tyson (me) getting peppered into submission by his roy jones. i knocked him down first early on, and stunned him a bunch of times before round 4. at that point i mentioned that if he loses he's gonna hear it on the IGN boards here, and after that it was SOOO on. i should've kept my mouth shut! he won the next 4 rounds and knocked me down twice in round 8. I couldn't get up from the second knockdown since I have very little experience being on the canvas in this game!!! i need to practice this apparently... heheh. i did get much respect from him for a "really tough fight" so that was pretty cool to hear i must say =)

the second fight was shaping up to be a monster too with a small audience behind us. i was winning on the cards with shane mosley vs. his sugar ray leonard, and then in the 6th round it was GOOD FREAKING NIGHT! he pulled a perfectly timed bob n weave followed by a right hook that dropped me in one punch. FLASH KD. i got up, wasn't right and he quickly knocked me down about 25 seconds later. blocking, moving, and clinching were all waaay harder after the flash KD. maybe he can drop by on the boards here to validate my story, but it was seriously a great moment that showed just how fun this game is. the flash KD's are so much more gratifying on FNR4 than in UFC that you can't even compare the two. when he landed that shot, both he and I and everyone behind us let out a simultaneous OOOOOOOOOH!! it nearly scared the **** out of the girl that just happened to be walking by at the wrong time.

too funny, awesome fights. really fun time today. considering fight night is probably my favorite game, getting respect from the developer was a pretty good feeling i must say! I look forward to getting some practice time in with the full game and giving him a proper rematch!!

we talked about all kinds of stuff about the game so feel free to ask me questions and I will do my best to address them based on our conversation. we didn't talk a whole lot about career mode though, so sorry about that. i'm big on online matches so it just wasn't on my mind i guess.

one thing i will answer now though, and I will quote him in saying, is that "fight night round 4 will NOT have a buttons based punching scheme when it comes out on the 25th". take that as you want it, a glimmer of hope for DLC button scheme or a solidly closed door, but those where his words.

can't wait this this game drops!

Enjoyed reading the impressions and I am looking forward to the 25th. Can't wait.

I am very happy he nailed the coffin on the buttons. Folks they will not be in and it is what it is. Practice makes efficient, so get to work.

I like a lot of what they've done with the game, but going the extra mile to say "F You" to the Button crowd by taking the config out of Offline Play just really ticks me off.

I would love for you to post a video of why you decided to remove this from Offline Play....I doubt any of your excuses would be passable

Brizzo you catered to a minority group of players that whined like babies to get their way. You can shovel that Focus Group crap all you want but its obvious this was going to be divisive among the community. You didn't want to put in the extra work to make your game fun and sim for all. I really don't want to hear any of this Buttons aren't sim BS either...if they took the time to do fatigue/animations right it wouldn't even be a thought.

Some part of me hopes they see backlash in review scores/sales for this...because thats the only way it appears that it will get through to them how many people feel ticked off about this....

but like I said, I like a lot of what they've done with game so Im going to press on.....can't say the same for others

All he said was that FightNight R4 will not have a button punching scheme when it comes out on the 25th. The door wasn't really closed on an update-I guess they will play it by ear.

No purchase for me. I think FN4 is the best ever, but after trying the stick for a quite sometime I am not purchasing. I hate the fact I have to master a stick motion instead of the true science of boxing. Oh well.

Thanks for the great impressions MoTown. How was the haymaker a factor in your two fights? Did regular punches seem more powerful then in the demo?

Great impressions. Something that your post made me think about was a spectator mode for online. Just like the crowd building there to watch, it'd be nice to be able to sit in on online fights.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Looking back on my post...I probably didn't give enough credit to what they have done for the series....and I am thankful for the other tools to make this a realistic sim of the sport...I'll Spend hours with Gameface and the Equipment Editor.....not to mention Slider Tweaking

The game is still fun to me, and TPC in R4 isn't all that horrible(I Just know Id enjoy it more with Buttons). I just can't stand the "Deal with it attitude" revolving around the issue and peoples' love for the sport being insulted because they want to play the game the way that its most comfortable to them
