"I lost, twice!
Sorry in advance for lack of specific info, but the IGN boards keep dropping out and I just wrote like a page about my day today at E3, and the page crashed. trying to be brief...
first off, Brian Hayes is class act. seriously that guy ROCKS, and him and his team have done a PHENOMENAL job with this game.
as for our fights....we had two all-out WARS. One fight went 8 rounds and ended with a spent mike tyson (me) getting peppered into submission by his roy jones. i knocked him down first early on, and stunned him a bunch of times before round 4. at that point i mentioned that if he loses he's gonna hear it on the IGN boards here, and after that it was SOOO on. i should've kept my mouth shut! he won the next 4 rounds and knocked me down twice in round 8. I couldn't get up from the second knockdown since I have very little experience being on the canvas in this game!!! i need to practice this apparently... heheh. i did get much respect from him for a "really tough fight" so that was pretty cool to hear i must say =)
the second fight was shaping up to be a monster too with a small audience behind us. i was winning on the cards with shane mosley vs. his sugar ray leonard, and then in the 6th round it was GOOD FREAKING NIGHT! he pulled a perfectly timed bob n weave followed by a right hook that dropped me in one punch. FLASH KD. i got up, wasn't right and he quickly knocked me down about 25 seconds later. blocking, moving, and clinching were all waaay harder after the flash KD. maybe he can drop by on the boards here to validate my story, but it was seriously a great moment that showed just how fun this game is. the flash KD's are so much more gratifying on FNR4 than in UFC that you can't even compare the two. when he landed that shot, both he and I and everyone behind us let out a simultaneous OOOOOOOOOH!! it nearly scared the **** out of the girl that just happened to be walking by at the wrong time.
too funny, awesome fights. really fun time today. considering fight night is probably my favorite game, getting respect from the developer was a pretty good feeling i must say! I look forward to getting some practice time in with the full game and giving him a proper rematch!!
we talked about all kinds of stuff about the game so feel free to ask me questions and I will do my best to address them based on our conversation. we didn't talk a whole lot about career mode though, so sorry about that. i'm big on online matches so it just wasn't on my mind i guess.
one thing i will answer now though, and I will quote him in saying, is that "fight night round 4 will NOT have a buttons based punching scheme when it comes out on the 25th". take that as you want it, a glimmer of hope for DLC button scheme or a solidly closed door, but those where his words.
can't wait this this game drops!
