I think Cotto won purely because Clottey didn't do anything in the last two rounds. Had Clottey cut off the ring (as edaddy said above) and went to work, it would have been impossible to deny him the win. He didn't and so he lost. There won't be a rematch though, they're moving Cotto onto megafights and Clottey will probably face (and destroy) Andre Berto next.

To beat the champ, you have to take it from the champ. Clottey did not. Cotto fought a smarter fight (fighting effectively while backpedaling) and in my opinion won it 114-113. Cotto was very smart by not standing and trading shots with a floppy eyebrow, but he showed even more heart by continuing on. Had the fight ended earlier, he would have won even more impressively by points. Not to mention, without the cut, Cotto would have knocked Clottey out
Last but not least, I don't buy for a minute that Clottey hirt his knee. He was bobbing up and down just fine 30 seconds after he got up. He just got lazy and lost by not finishing the job...
Great win by Cotto. Bring on Pacman at 147. No stupid catch weight. If Pac wants to join the bigboys, then he should join them for real...Comment
