I played the 360 demo on my 120gig HD and didn't have any issues. I guess I got lucky it didn't freeze?

That's good to know. I hope it's fixed quickly, for those having the problem.

I just have a basic 20 gig HDD....demo and retail both freeze. Not gonna wait for EA...getting PS3. I don't like the idea that they are not worried about .5% of the customers. Doesn't sound like a patch is going to come...they will just pass the blame onto the hardware.

Just an update from me..I went ahead and tried the demo again, this time yanking my wireless adapter and it worked. When I tried to connect the adapter back though it wouldn't pick up my internet connection at all...it's the MS one and no light came on the thing whatsoever. Weird. I'm still really nervous about buying this game tomorrow. I might end up just waiting a week or so and seeing how this all plays out. It sucks though as I was really psyched up for this game.

FYI - I also moved my save game files to an MU and formatted my hdd. Works perfectly now.
Now I have to redownload a gazillion rock band songs though.

What i did to fix this problem was erase all my custom playlists. There seems to be an interference with the custom music and the playlists created for NCAA Football or NHL 09. I just went to the memory tab on my 360 and deleted all music and it worked fine. I'm sure i could have just moved the music to a memory card but I only had a few songs and i usually stream my music from my computer anyway.

The problem for me is somehow connected with my home network. I noticed that every time I started the game, my external HDD on my PC would awake from "sleep" because it was being accessed. I decided to turn off my PC, and the game booted up perfectly. Im not sure if everyone is connected to a home network, but if you are try it.

Ive been talking in emails with a couple of guys from EA for a couple of hours now and they wanted me to send them my HDD (they would send me a new one first). I said sure, but explained to them how my network is set up and what I thought was going on. They are now able to reproduce it, so hopefully a patch will come soon.

I get to pay $60 for a game then spend the time figuring out how they can fix it. Nice. I think that dserves a free copy of NCAA!

I've been researching this issue among the different boards such as this one and the EA one, as well as a couple others and there is one thing that I have found to be in common among almost all people -me included- who have problems with this game: They all have connections which are set up to stream music from an outside source. This is why people have had success by unplugging their ethernet cables. Since the ethernet cable isn't connected it isn't noticing the stuff from the other computer. Others have reported success by simply switching off the sharing on the computers where their Xbox would stream music from, thus being able to leave their ethernet cables plugged in.

I'm no technician so I have no idea why simply having sharing allowed to another computer would cause the game to freeze, but it is the common issue among almost all the people that have reported problems.

So it is good that people at EA are aware of this as it certainly doesn't seem to have anything to do with a hard drive issue. Will EA be making any kind of statement or announcement soon? This has gone virtually ignored by their staff on the EA boards since the game was released..other than some lame statement about it being a rare issue which effects only .5% of the people with the game.

I had the same problem but my fix was removing the custome sound tracks I had fro NCAA09. But I do not stream music on my xbox. I think it has something to do with the way FN4 uses custom songs and other games use those same songs.

The lockups are cause by playlists. Either on the console HDD or playlist files available on networked PCs. If there are more than 35 playlists available the game hangs.

I really hope EA patches this issue because it's truly unforgivable. I run a CAW Wrestling league through the SVR series and can't really delete any of my custom soundtrack playlists for that reason, so I'm basically screwed until a legit patch comes out. I rented FNR4 so it's not a huge deal-breaker if I can't play the game in the week-long rental period I have it for...but I'd be fuming right now and calling for heads if I ended up purchasing it. Get your act together and patch it when you find the root of the problem, EA.

This clue helped me get the game to work. The game worked fine for me at first when I brought it home. But then in a later session it was locking up for me right at the first loading screen, and I had no clue why. I installed it to the HDD - same result. I erased all the related game saves, and cleared the cache - still no go.

So I swapped it at the local Gamestop for a fresh copy. It didn't seem like it could be a bad disc, since it installed to the HDD with no trouble and there were no scratches or any damage. But I swapped discs anyway, and this new one worked fine right off the bat, just like the original disc.

But then in a later session, the same freeze up as it starts to load. URGH!

Well, it turns out I had my Connect360 on my computer on this time, and lo and behold, thanks to the clue posted above, I turned that off and the game loaded normally. I hope that the problem is as simple as that. I can happily live without streaming tunes for this game, at least for a while, until they can fix the issue with a patch.
