I am using Tyson online and have experienced quite abit of success. It is all about playing to your fighters strength. I love taking advantage of Tyson's 99 Head Movement and dodge punches from the outside then counter. If I get inside it is serious trouble for my opponent.

Well, I am 2-3 with one KO and a guy that DNF'd because I countered his cheese in round 2. My three losses are all to guys that threw gut haymakers constantly and never tired from it. There is no penalty to throwing a lot of haymakers and especially no penalty to missing. Against head haymakers my opponents walk into jabs and can't finish the punch.

I just fought a guy online who had a quick CAB that tried cheesing. What you guys suggested, picking his punches apart with timed blocks, worked. However, he changed tactics and started throwing a lot of haymakers for the rest of the fight. I couldn't defend the gut haymakers. I landed 34 counters against this guy and he didn't sniff the canvas once. My last opponent threw 108 haymakers, missing 63. He should have been tired from throwing haymakers or KO'd from me landing 34 of 40 counters. I love this game, but online is like a dropping a hot girl's in a manure truck. I wonder if it's worth wading through a pile of mess to get what I really want.

Sorry about the rant but how do you deal with gut haymakers?
      Counter body shot.

A haymaker takes off about 20% of their stamina. "Counter" it with your strong hand hook to the body and you just made that haymaker cost them even more stamina. Mix in some hard body shots to further deplete the stamina in-between their haymaker attemts, and within seconds their stamina is at zero, and then those haymakers become so SLOOOOOW you can counter them in your sleep, lol. Body straights and jabs also work well because they not only chip away stamina, they are quick and knock them out of the haymaker animation.

They'll usually back up and try to let the stamina build back up...just stay on them with body combos. Once their stamina is depeted, you can be more aggressive with your real offense and combos.

I am moving. I jab and circle to get away from the Robo punchers. Guys went from using Foremans and Tysons and robo punching to getting Roy Jones Jr's and Clazanges (sp?) and chasing you. Once I counter them a few times and they go down they start the haymaker thing and quit robo punching. Its harder to move away from a faster midget when your guy is 6'4". I guess I should use straights to the body for all haymakers coming in. I thought something was funny when people went from heavyweights to light heavy's.

That's what I found strange when I started my last match, my opponent was 175 lbs and looked like all his attributes were at speed and stamina. He threw well over 100 punches ever round.
